Sometimes the system will need reprogramming after a battery change, especially if the old battery was not holding a charge. Plugging in the 17VAC charger may have drained power on a super-capacitor that was supplying power to the memory chip. This will be more evident if none of the remotes (hand fobs) or sensors are no longer communicating with the main unit. Contact me at [email protected] to get further instructions.

First you have to open the front cover. There is a tab at the top of the unit you press in and the front cover opens. Then at the top of the face near the middle you will see a place you can insert a small flat tip screwdriver and press lightly to open the second cover. This will open the area for the back up battery and you can just take it out and get replaced. I would advise the monitoring company that you are going to do so in case they have a tamper alert or trouble alert from opening the second cover and batter. When you first open the front cover you might need to enter your user code to silence the beeps using the red numbered keys on the face plate.

There is probably a hot wire that looks like a ground wire that has been connected to the ground. Open the main fuse box at the front. You probably mistakenly put a main wire to the ground which should have been connected there or something.

Low system battery in the ge home security system Peacekeeper

While I am not familiar with the brand name of your security system all systems use a backup battery in the event the electric power goes out in house. When electric power is on the system automatically trickle charges the battery so that it is ready for use when needed. If your system has a control panel (normally a white metal box found in a 1st floor closet or basement) where all the wiring to the system has been run, open it and you will see the battery which is connected to the control panel's motherboard with red and black wires. Most security system batteries are rated at 12 volts DC and are sized at either 4 amp hour or 7 amp hour. Make a note of this and go to a battery warehouse store in your area and have them match it up. Once installed a battery should be replaced every 4-5 years. If your system does not have a control panel (some systems are portable) then the batttery could be located in a console. Most of these types of systems have a battery access area from the rear and are much smaller than ones found in control panels. Usually these are 12 VDC 1.5 Amp Hour. Hope this helps. If there is anything unusual about your system that I have not addressed please get in touch with me and I will try to answer your questions.
