Question about Pioneer SD-P50A5-K 50" Rear Projection Television

Pioneer SD-P40 Hello all,With all the power outages and so forth my Pioneer SD-P40 has decided not to power up completely. I have the green power light but no sound or picture. I have done the easy stuff like check fuses and a the TP's with given voltages, all read good on my DVM but it is almost impossible to find any schematics or photofacts for this TV. Any suggestions? My Pioner SD-P40 goes off after a few minutes of playing. Unplug and plug back in then it comes on with remote and goes out again What should I Do.

Check your hori out put transistor if shorted replace NTE2973, this should be output number.if you need any more help let me know!

Sorry i forgot to tell you to also check STK-392-110s if one of these is bad set will not come on.and if this is the case replace both STKs.use 180s

You may have to change its power supply however, try this first

1. change your UPS coz the old one may have been damaged.

if that still didn't work, change your power supply

If the sound keeps working your probably just need a new lamp, if the sound does not stay on, you probably to get someone to fix the power supply.

Did you have double image before changing the stk's ? If not then there was no need to change them.. Pioneers are known for bad solder connections especially in the power supply section.. suggest checking that when you changed the stk's that there are no solder bridges between the pins of either stk ICs

When tv is turned on green light comes on then goes to standby

had the same problem on mine.
Found loose solder terminals on the main power transformer, resoldered fixed it up about 5 min.

Have you tried to do set the convergence with a pattern on the screen? Some tv's have the pattern built right into the setup. Others do it auto just by pushing a button. Adjusting the pattern on one side of the screen may affect the other side, depending on how far out of whack it is.

Magnets (speakers) near by will play havoc with convergence.
