Answering machine not working

To retrieve messages from the RCA Telefield model 1000 answering machine, follow these steps:

Call your number from the remote phone. When the outgoig message is being played press 0 then the two digits you selected as PIN when you configured the answering machine. Your messages will be played to you.
For a more detailed information on your answering machine you should consult your phone user manual.

Have not solved the problem yet. Am thinking about getting call answering through my phone company which works through the phones, not an answering machine.

I phoned in from another phone and retrieved my messages. The problem was not with the answering machine but with the phone and calling card I had been using. Don't use a hotel switch board nor calling card, too many intermediate parties for the 2 digit code to work with.

I can't seem to get the security code entered.  It won't change.  None of the numbers will change when I try to set it up.

My phones work, but the answering machine does not play back. My friends say that the machine on their end leaves a message.
