My headset was working fine until yesterday in which I couldn't hear the game sounds. I looked over at the transmitter and it had gone dark. I tried re-pair the headset with the transmitter but the headset will not turn on to pair...even when it's plugged into the usb cable. Help?

did you check the volume dial on your headset cable to make sure it is not turned all the way down. do you hear the xbox clicks but not the game sounds? have you checked your games sound settings and your xbox live sound settings. please advise.
check if the adapter has any switches , check their initial setting and change one by one, had a similar issue with a wireless headset in the past where the switches were in wrong position
if you can confirm the make and model may be able to help more
It may be time to get a new headset, as this headset sounds like it is in
the on mode constantly, but not allowing anything through. You can try
to re-pair it up to your phone, but I don't think that is the problem. I
believe that your headset may just be outdated and needs to be
replaced. Take a look at the link for these Plantronics headsets to see if they might be OK for
your phone:
Did you "pair" the headset with the transmitter? The X31 transmitter has an LED on the front. It should be glowing steady on. If it's slowly fading in and out, that means you need to pair the headset with the transmitter.
Directions for how to pair the X31 are in the User Guide:

If you know the headset is paired but you still don't get sound, try connecting the red/white RCA plugs to the Audio Out jacks on a DVD or CD player, and test your X31 that way. If it makes sound from your DVD or CD player but not from your Xbox, then you know it's an Xbox configuration problem of some kind (in other words, you know the headset works).
I hope that helps.
This may be a broken or loose wire in your headset that prevents you from hearing them.
Or the headset is not turned on. Press the call control button for 2 seconds until you hear a beep or see the indicator light glow blue to turn headset on. Your headset is out of range. Move the headset closer to the phone or Bluetooth device.
hmm.
1.well try pressing those little arrow buttons on the top and bottom of the headset.
2.Try charging it until the ring turns green.
3.On your PS3 go into accessories, audio and increase the output volume
Is the headset paired and connected to your phone? Is bluetooth turned on in your phone? Look for the bluetooth icon on top of your phone's screen. Let me know what model phone you have and I can help you troubleshoot.
I was also experiencing the same problem (also after a power failure / storm) -- apparently good battery charge, connections ok, etc. I then tried removing the battery from the headset itself, waited 30 seconds, and then reinstalled the battery. This seems to have resolved the problem.
It is fairly easy to open the clamshell, but you will need a very fine Phillips screwdriver to remove the battery hold-in (it's really not a hold-down, it just keeps the battery in place. Reassemble the same way -- be sure to keep positive to positive and negative to negative.
