hold down apple key, option key and the letters p and r and then push power button. These four keys must be pressed and held down continuously before the first chime and until you hear the third chime.
if that does not work, try going to google and doing a search for apple key commands in apple support. I think holding down the option key before pushing power button on a machine that is powered off will take you to the drive select menu. where you can choose the drive you want to start form.
YOu can also try installing system disk and hold down c key. Go into disk utilities and run all four choices.

Hi, the periodic red light is an indicator of a circuit failure, on some Television sets the number of blinks of the light will give a general idea of what circuit is malfunctioning. These sequences change according to make and model. As mentioned before it usually points to a general area and most of the time it's best to take the TV in for an estimation to get an actual idea on what the repair will cost.
To turn the set alarm off, push buttons 3 and 4 at the same time, the
alarm icon should appear or disappear
To turn off the hourly
chime, press button 4. While holding it down, press button 2 and the
days of the week disappear. The chime is now off. If you want the chime,
press button 4 and hold while you press button 2. When all the days
show, the chime is on.
to turn off hourly chime on the times wr 30m, simply press (in any mode, i just use the regular clock mode) the start/stop button (top right hand button) once (for about half a second).
if you don't hear anything, you've turned off the hourly chime! if you hear two short beeps, you've turned on the hourly chime. turning the chime off/on is cyclic. if you press once and hear nothing, it's off. if you press again, you'll hear two beeps and the hourly chime is now on. a lot of times that button hits my wrist (i wear it on my left hand) by accident, and that's how the chime turns on and off. i hope this helps someone.
