Question about Compaq Presario 700 470024-192 Notebook

Additional memory - speed?

When I purchased my laptop it already some aditional RAM I think it's got 256. However, compared to my desk top it's very slow so I'm wanting to add more RAM as I believe that will enhance its performance? And my question is, if I buy some additional memory ie another 256 (making a total of 512 will it  cause a problem as when I've read the bumph it says that this particular model only supports 384? And if I buy another 128 to make it 384 will I notice any difference?

Yes even the 128 increase will be noticeable, but to be sure of what your system can take visit the crucial site and download the scanner tool to tell you what the memory capacity is

Computer has crashed. Everything gone off desk top and program list. Everytime i start computer it opens data recovery window and goes through a scan, it says hard drive space less than technical...
hello, usualy in this cases the memory is the problem, any way if u already buyed 1GB ram ,wait until u get it and change it, let hope will resolve all problems, u can get an UBCD live cd and make some hdd and memory tests from it, and then if still dont work u can go to a specialst.
because will be a lose of money to go to a center now after u already got the RAM

this is my advice because is imposible to some one to resolv this whit out beeing infront of laptop

I have a Packard Bell desk top PC In 2006 I Installed windows vista I noticed I needed a 512 ram as I had 256.I bought a 512 ram I knew were to install It ,I took the 256 ram out and carefully put In...
You put in the wrong type of memory. Put the old 256 back in the computer should power on with no beep code(or all good beep). If this is correct make sure to obtain the same type of memory as the 256. Also both slots must have the same RAM. You cannot have a 128 with a 512. They should both be either 128 or 512.
If you are using Vista you should have a minimum of 1g RAM.

The maximum memory that your laptop can allocation is 256 mb only. Since there are two slots you can put 128mb for each slot. Sorry, you cannot use memory from your desktop to your laptop. The ram you need is ddr333 also called pc2700.
It says you can install a maximum of 2gb.
Try ebay for cheap memory upgrade

I want my Laptop Dell Latitude C800 physical memory upgraded to 128 mb to 256 mb I myself already installed 256 mb Ram but it still showing 128 mb of memory...can I get help in this regard ?
I assume you installed another 128Mb of RAM to give you a total of 256Mb.
It is most likely the 2nd RAM module is not compatible with the other RAM module. Try using the same make.
OR
Purchase and install a single RAM module 256Mb or 512Mb these are not expensive.
