Question about JVC AV-27020 TV

1 Answer

JVC AV27020 This set won't tune in anything above channel 47, I have checked to make sure there isn't a lock on channels, I have tried auto program, I have tried to add the channel's manually. I have made sure that the set is set to cable, and also plugged in another set to ensure the actual signal coming in is OK. When I manually add the channel say 53 (CTV Sportsnet) you can see what looks like a scrambled picture for a couple of seconds then it blue screens. Any ideas from anyone would be appreciated.

LG 42LK450 flat screen.I tried auto tuning but didn't pickup channel 31. I tried manual tuning with no result. The old style TV I had prior to this could pick up channel 31 so it isn't a reception...

If your trying to receive over the air make sure the TV is not set to a Cable mode, if your on Cable your new TV is most likely a ATSC tuner (digital) and the cable company can map channels any way they want. If your old TV had the older style cable tuner, the lineup will be different.
HDTV has level thresholds, if the signal is weak you wont see anything, but the old TV would.
Without knowing much about where or what sort of TV your using, these are my best ideas.

Hello
Here is the procedure for auto tuning. Pleas go through it. Connect the antenna to the rear antena socket marked as &% ohms antena and continue.

If you have already run the Auto Tuner as part of the quick setup earlier in this guide, please

skip ahead to "Channel Summary" to continue setting up your television. In Auto Tuner Setup,

the TV automatically scans through all available channels, memorizing the active ones and

skipping over blank ones or channels with weak signals. This means you scan using the

I can't program channels above 13

Check your TV settings and be sure to set the tuning mode to cable (sometimes it says CATV). You will find it's set to "air" now. When set for off-the-air tuning, cable channels 2 through 13 work fine, but above that you get nothing. After you set your tuning mode to cable, rescan channels and ou should have everything.

I have a jvc tv model av27530. Disconnected cable box b/c going

You probably have to find your original remote to the set and go through setup in your menu. On most sets, there will be a menu item which will allow you to switch from Cable mode to Air mode. If you have no Cable connected, then you must set tuner in Air mode.

If you are using an external device to run on channel three, then try this:
Make sure device (rather it's a vcr or game console), is hooked up to your Antenna Input connector. Also, some of these devices will have a small hidden switch on back that says 3 and 4. Move the switch to 3 position. Turn on device. Go into TV menu and do a Channel scan. This should auto program any device hooked up to the TV antenna input jack to channel three.

Keep in mind that you may not receive anything by Feburary of this year without an HD converter box to tune in channels with and outdoor antenna.

Again JVC AV27020

Hey thanks for the feed back . The only other suggestion i have would be the tuning section is not locking in. The tuner could be your problem or there are coils such as AGC or IF could be drifting not allowing the channels to lock in . This would not be a simple fix as you would have to locate what is failling with a schematic to track it down . I would guess the coils first or something as a resistor feeding them has changed value . The tuner would be my last guess . You might want to call around to find a shop that knows this set , as some places might just start trying parts and end up being to costly to get repaired . Good luck and let me know what you find out .

TV JVC av27020

Does the screen go black with the volume still working ? If so check to make sure your closed caption is turned off . If the sound turns off as well like the tv is turning off , then it might be going into shutdown. Some of these sets have had bad caps in the startup circuit . Let me know , Good luck

Timed recording

Hi.

Check in the tuning or preset menu that all the channels you should be able to record are tuned in & look to see if you have set any to SKIP.
If any are set to skip unskip them.

No jvc remote, can't access

Nothing can fully substitute for the original remote. However, I'm not too clear on why you're not able to do an auto-programming.
If you would like to replace the original remote and don't want to spend $50 or more dollars, consider this alternative:

We have just about all of these in the shop and they really do access ALL the functions of the original.
