I had the exact same problem. Thought I could fix it by replacing the thermal fuse . . . no luck there. Problem continued. After tons ( I do mean tons) of research, I found the problem to be a temperature sensor. Makes total sense ! ! ! The tv is trying to come on, but the temperature sensor is bad, telling the tv that it is too hot to operate, so it turns itself off - only to try & come back on 30 secs or so later. Hard to fix unless you know your way around tv circuits. Took me bout 3 hrs total.
No solution for you...but I have the same problem. I also had the green blob problem which sony fixed earlier this year. It happens on an intermittent basis. Screen goes off, standby light blinks green, then comes back on. Its off for maybe 1-2 min.
This is symptom of weak lamp in TV, please replace lamp in TV and I would suggest to buy Sony original lamp for TV safety. Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual in details, click Sony Support if you want to download user manual copy. Thanks.
