Radio quit working

My gf had subs put in her car not professionally months ago. I changed the speakers and amp added a switch to the switched wire since the amp was not turning off and the battery was dying, about a month later I changed the temp sensor. A few weeks later the gauges started jumping up and down dash lights stayed on radio turning off and on showing a symbol something like a broken key. So i disconnected the power to amp at the battery that didn't help. the guy who wired it originally looked at it and noticed a few fuses weren't pushed all the way in so he pushed them in and the guages started working when he reattached the amp he disconnected the ground to the battery when he put it back on the radio never came back on. no display on the screen what so ever checked the fuse pulled the switch wire it was pushed in with the radio fuse. pulled the ground off the battery for several minutes and reattached nothing. should add that the temp gauge also stopped working when the radio did and a few days ago it started working again. im thinking it has no power since the screen is displaying nothing but i don't know where to go from here

Sounds like someone shorted the wires...you need to look into the entire butcher job and see what wires were touched. Disconnect everything the butcher did and then see if your battery is still drainning power.

SOURCE: Fried wire to my ignition switch

Most likely the wires rubbed together or wire grounded out. You could put an inline fuse in wire for safe precaution Replace switch and run new wire and should be good to go.

SOURCE: I have a 1985 Cheverolet

Sir,
It's probably the brake lights that are staying on, check again, if the brake lights are staying on the brake light switch needs to be replaced. The reason I believe it's the brake lights is that they will turn on even with the key off so make sure which lights are staying on.

SOURCE: 1991 chevy 1500 no power to radio fuse

if you got a spark when you touch it to the side (which is the ground) the wire is a power source that should go to the terminal at the back of the lighter. there is no relay for this circuit so change the new fuse it's blown and check for burnt wires.

Radio wiring problem 2001 Audi A3

Hi, had total issues with this too! Your back speakers arent going because they are amped by the factory amp in the boot. You have to provide power to the amp so that it will turn the rear speakers on. This was a white and black striped wire in my car (Audi A3 1997) The rear speakers are blue /green and brown/red (left rear) , and the LH rear is brown/red and (forgotten colour) but the wire on the bottom left under those two brown/red wires on the 20pin harness. If you wire it all up like this then your rears should be going :)
