I did have an leak in the line set shortly after original install, had a different company come out and repair leak, Tech stated that it was in good running order after charging. Unit should heat as well as cool shouldn't it? ( I realize not all minisplits do)

It sounds to me like the compressor is overheating and tripping on internal or external overloads. After the unit cools down again it will try to run for a little while. Then this cycle would start over. I would check the condenser coil for dirt and filth. This portion of the unit may be on the out and backside of the unit. You should at least be able to see light through the coil.
I believe the thermistor that you removed temporarily is used for a freeze situation. I do not believe that it is your problem. Good luck:)

Check that you are on the correct mode setting. Open the remote and press the mode button (the one with about four little icons, star, teardrop, triangle and sun) until you get to the mode you require. If cooling required, select the star or crystal, if heating required select the sun (circle with little lines)

hello. I can help you. There are several possible reasons for your problem Here they are. Read them over and it will give you insights into how your A/C works.
Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting? Is the compressor motor
running? The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts.
It is located inside the air conditioner at the center. Is it humming or making
any kind of continuous noise or causing the lights to dim? If it is making a
continuous noise, and your air conditioner is still not cooling at all, there
may be a serious problem with one or more of these areas:
These items are not user serviceable. You will
need to contact a qualified appliance repair technician to repair these
components.
If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the
air conditioner there may be a problem in one or more of these areas:
The air is cool but doesn't seem cold
enough
If the air doesn't seem cool enough
it is necessary to use a thermometer to check the difference in temperature
between the air going into the unit and the air being blown into the room.
Ideally, the temperature difference should be more than 15 degrees. For example,
if the temperature going into the air conditioner is 80 degrees, the temperature
coming out of the unit should be at least 65 degrees or less. If the difference
is 15 degrees or more there is probably no cause for concern. If the temperature
difference is less than 15 degrees you should check the following:
Check to make sure the air damper is closed. If
it's open, it will bring in outside air and reduce the efficiency of the
unit.
During the winter season many people cover
their air conditioners to protect the unit from the weather. In the spring or
summer they will sometimes forget to remove the cover. If your unit has a cover
on the outside portion of the air conditioner remove the cover first.
The condensing coils will always be on
the "warm" side of the air conditioner. That is, on the side that faces outside
of the room to be cooled. Air is drawn into the back of the air conditioner on
the sides through vent slots and is blown directly out through the condenser
coils. If the coils get clogged with lint, dust and dirt the cooling system
cannot provide the cooling necessary. To clean the coils it will be necessary to
remove the entire cover of the air conditioner or pull it out of the wall to
gain access to the coils. They can be cleaned by blowing compressed air at them
or by using a soft bristle brush to wipe the dirt off. It is important to also
clean any dirt or lint build-up in the bottom of the air conditioner so the
condensate water will be picked up by the condensing fan slinger properly.

Ok. So first things first. LG have a reputation with all their products. THEY ARE ALL BAD! If you remember GoldStar, they are now LG. GoldStar had horrible products. Now this is what LG has. The fact that the filters are cleaned and the units are serviced is an abosulte plus and will provide the units with extra longevity. Now are these drains are they used for water drainage. If so the upstairs units shouldn't need them unless there is some sort of rise in the drain pipe.
Now to the noise. It seems like there is something which is causing the fan to make a noise. It could be loose bearing or a piece of the fan which has broken away causing it to hit the inside of the unit. Since it is on both units, it would be a generic problem with this series and unfortunately is what you are stuck with now.
To combat this problem, I would: ring LG and the company who installed them and demand that they be repaired and have a warranty on the repairs. Just a heads up, LG are really bad to contact should you have a complaint, so keep persisting that they be repaired free of charge since that they are still under warranty.
If you are not happy with LG or your installers response, I would remove the units and have another brand put in. I recommend Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Panasonic. Both units are whisper quiet. In fact they are quieter that the LG.
Oh and that only reason why LG boast about their "whisper quiet-ness" is because that is probably the only good going for them - and thats' not even right!
I hope that I have helped you in some way. Good Luck!

I have a LG minisplit (indoor unit LSN122HE /outdoor unit is LSU122HE) it cools great dehumidifies also and has for 3 months of summer. However its cold now and it will not heat. It runs for a min outdoor unit run compresser and all but continues to blow cold air inside. After about 3 to 5 min outdoor unit turns off and thats it
