Began to feel "heavy" going dow the road, would not accelerate, and then died. Could not get it to restart, although it gave it a real good try! I have had a lot of trouble with it not starting right away over the last few weeks, but it's never died while going down the road, ever. Could it be the alternator? I can't seem to get that out of my head. I have had a lot of work done on it recently, within the last 2 years, and they found no major trouble.

If this engine is a VORTEC then you may have a problem with the internal fuel system. Under the top plenum there is a fuel reg and poppet valves that inject fuel into the cylinders. Sometimes the tubes that run fuel from the reg to the valves can leak and cause your problem. This cannot be found with pressure check because this occurrs after the reg. PS fuel mileage will go down. Let me know if this helps.Moe

check battery voltage when you turn off car. it should be 12.5 volts.if drops 11.0 volts the battery is got a weak cell in it.i bought a sears die hard battery it last 2 years the battery had a defect .it had a bad cell it short out the battery.check alternator wires for defects.
