It is not always the case of Beeps coming from the unit with bad ram.. The ram could still be bad and cause no video internal or external.

You people are not explaining in detail what is actually wrong?.  If you do this we can try to help you.

1 Does the power lights light up.

2 Does the hard-drive light light up

3. Does anything go on the computer.

4 What does and what does not (lightup)

Just because you have a blank screen does not necessarily mean the screen is "had it" and by plugging an external monitor to see if there is problem does not exist.

For all we know your motherboard may have ceased to exist or your hard drive crashed or your memory chip.  Please help me to help you?

Thank you very much because you used the external monitor and had no results this rules out any problems with your LCD it seems to be fine.

And it is not your memory chip otherwise you would hear a serious of beeps so thats ruled out.

You say the was not lights coming on for the hard drive this is a may need to look in this area. By your diagnostics it is possible that motherboard has broken down if not the hard drive before it..........Im sorry I cannot be any more helpful to you, you did well to explain in detail and thats the way.  But thats my suspicions on what i think it may be.

Thank you for choosing FixYa. I think it would be better if you isolate the problem if its the Display on the machine that's having a problem. Try to use an External Display use it for a while turn on and off the machine if its giving display using your External Display or its doing same thing. If its doing same thing it means there is a problem with the Motherboard, Memory or Video Display.

Hope I've helped you somehow.

Has a Toshiba Tecra 9000 won't power up. Power light on front is blanking which appears to be a code 3-3-2

The problem is cause due to one of the following: the backlight or the display, check your monitor brightness settings. Sometimes your brightness may accidentally have been all the way turned down, resulting in a blank/dark screen. The monitor controls are on the keyboard, directly above the numeric keys.
Look closely at your laptop's screen if the steps do not restore power to it and if it remains blank. Can you see a faint image on the screen? If so, the backlight may be off due to the LCD "lid close" detector malfunctioning. This malfunction likely happened due to the lid close switch being stuck in the "closed" position even though the lid is open. The switch is located beside the LCD's screen hinges, and tapping the switch a few times should unstick it.
Use an S-Video cable and plug your laptop up to an external monitor, such as your television set. With the laptop and TV hooked up, turn both on and see if your computer's desktop is displayed on the TV. You can also use a fifteen ( 15 )pin monitor desktop monitor by connecting it to the blue fifteen ( 15 ) connector at the side of the laptop if you cannot see anything on screen it is the display problem. If it is, your laptop's display needs to be replaced. If not, your motherboard and/or video subsystem may need to be completely removed and replaced.

This could be due to presence of static charges on the notebook or hardware malfunction of the video card or defective LCD display screen of the notebook. To resolve the issue, perform the following steps.
Step 1: Hard Reset
To perform a hard reset, please follow the steps listed below:

1. Unplug the AC adapter from the notebook PC and remove from any port replicator or docking station.
2. Remove the battery from the notebook battery compartment.
3. Press and hold down the power button for about 20 seconds.
4. Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook PC.
5. Press the power button to turn the notebook PC back on.
This will discharge the static charges from the notebook. Now check if the display works fine or not. Incase, if the issue persists, then the video card or LCD screen must have gone bad, and to isolate the same, please connect an external monitor to the notebook and check for the display on it. You can follow the steps below to connect an external monitor to the notebook.
1. Turn off the notebook.
2. Connect the monitor cable from the external monitor to the monitor port on the rear/side of the computer.
3. Connect the monitor to a power source and turn it on.
4. Press the Power button to turn on the computer.

At this time, please follow the instructions mentioned below for switching the display to the external monitor:

The notebook's video card supports three modes. Built-in screen only; external video only; and both on simultaneously (mirrored). If you're not seeing the image on the desired device(s), the notebook's video card is probably in another mode. Press FN + F4 to cycle through the display options: Notebook display, External monitor, both.

If you press FN + F4 once, the external monitor will display & there will be no Notebook LCD display.
If you press FN + F4 twice, the external monitor will display & there will be some shading on the Notebook LCD.
If you press FN + F4 thrice, both Notebook LCD & external monitor will display.

If the issue persists on the external monitor, then this could be due to defective video card on the notebook. However, if the display on the external monitor is fine, then the issue is with the LCD display panel of the notebook. In either cases, the notebook requires a detailed onsite diagnosis by a service technician.

If your notebook is under HP warranty, then contact HP to get the notebook repaired for free of cost.

2. Check if the power cable is properly connected

3. Check if the cable menguhungkan external monitor and the notebook is connected correctly.

4. Try to set the constrast and brightness on the external monitor

When I power up laptop screen is blank

You may have a burned video adapter.

A trouble shoting setp you can try is attatching an external display and seeing if that works.
Also try the function F5 key combo. I think that is the ASUS mapping to switch display output.

Blank screen upon startup

Try taking out the hard disk, plug in power and see if you have a display on your screen or external monitor. if same thing happen, try taking out the memory card. If you hear a beep sound it's a faulty mem. card, if no beep sound appears I suspected it's a motherboard faulty.

Blank screen on start up on Acer Extensa 4620

Did you switch displays to the external video? Try hitting the Fn key and whichever function key at the top of the keyboard has a little TV screen icon over it at the same time.

Labtop Screen Remains Blank

connect to external monitor to rule out bad video card. (remember most laptops have to toggle between internal and external display by using the <FN>+ <F?> key, mine is FN F5.)

If the external works then the problem is
  1. Inverter board or
  2. TAB welds at LCD or
  3. CCFL Cold Cathode Florescent Lamps (backlights)
