"I cannot locate the manual for our Memorex MVD4544 VHS/DVD player"
You just did ;)
Please click on the following link, then follow the instructions below to download it:
http://www.retrevo.com/support/Memorex-MVD4544-DVD-Players-manual/id/11188ci374/t/2/
The download page will open in a new window.
Download instructions
1. Scroll down the page a little until you see "
Download the Document" in big blue letters.
2. Click on "
Download the Document" - after a few seconds another page will open
3. Scroll down this page until you can see a big red button with "
Download Now" on it.
4. Enter the 5-digit code in the small white box above the numbers.
You do
not need to enter your email address on this page - unless you really want to!
5. Click the big red "
Download Now" button.
6. When the "File Download" box appears, click "
Save" and save the file to an easy to remember location on your PC, e.g. your Desktop.
When the file download is complete, go to the location where you saved the file and double-click to open it. If you'd like to help murder a few helpless Polar Bears, you can print the manual - or you can take the 'green' option and keep the file on your PC for reference ;)
If you are unable to open the file, you will also need to download and install the latest version of
Adobe Reader:

If you have any difficulty downloading the file or you have a problem with the player that you are unable to solve with the manual, please reply to me from within this page.
Hope this helps - the Polar Bears are counting on you!
BElectric.
For the record, I got the problem solved. If anyone else has the same issue, apparently you just need to hold the "power" button down on the remote for a full 5 seconds, and then the error message will go away. It doesn't work if you use the buttons on the actual console - just the remote. :) Back to fully functional DVD operation.
My MVD4543A did the same thing! Thanks for the solution!!
Thnx for that info.Saved me a bottle of asperin.
Thanks for the info! My kitten stepped on the remote, causing the "safe" display to appear. You saved me a migraine!
Thanks for this, I let my 4 month old daughter play with the remote and couldnt figure out how to turn the thing back on!
Thank you for posting this!!
ZOMG thank you. Small children and remotes don't mix! Also small sick children screaming for their Spongebob video when you can't turn on the player is not cool. So sincerly, thank you for the answer!
