Vertex 2200 transmits but makes no sound

    It transmits no sound, like voice or does not receive any sounds, like voice messages

    Hi I have a vertex desctop reapeatr it is pluged in to a mixer bourd I unplugged a mic jack and pluged back in now I hear no voice on the radio pleas help asap

You mean NO Audio Transmit?
If there is No Audio at PTT Bad MIc Cord.
Change the Mic cord.

Very likely transmit inhibit enabled. The red PTT light goes on, but nothing is actually transmitted. Or it is a bad microphone, or mic cord.

I bought a baofeng uv5r and want to link it to my work radio which is a vertex standard vx160u..I can transmit from the work radio to the baofeng but cant figure out how to transmit back to the vertex
First of all, technically, you can't use this radio to talk to anyone other than ham radio- that being said, if you want to proceed at your own risk. Ok, is your work radio an analog radio? Is it narrowband FM? Is it digital MOTOTRBO? Last two will make if difficult. Digital is impossible. Next, find out the exact transmit and receive frequencies for your radio. They may not be both the same if you have a radio 'repeater' your input frequency could be 5MHz higher than your receive frequency. And last- you need to know if your system has a "PL" tone (CTCSS, or DCS) subaudible tone that will break the squelch. So there are several variables that you will need your plant supervisor to relay to you. Good luck. You can probably get much of this info on line from radio reference.

I have 4 vertex VH-160 radios, two of them have stopped transmitting, all have been dowlaoded witht he same frequencies. Batteries are good. Whe transmit buton is pushed, the is one beep then nothing. ...
The VX 160's may have bad oscillators. It is not user repairable. The simple thing to check are the antennas. Vertex radios are very susceptible to broken antennas and will not transmit. This is true of Uhf and Vhf. Replace one and try it on all the radios. Never transmit without a antenna. It can cause the PA in the radios to fail.

More information is needed to help you; On which frequency are you trying to transmit? The radio has its band limits set by regulations of different countries. If you're trying to transmit on a frequency that's outside the limits of what the radio is setup for, it won't transmit.

Is your power supply large enough? It sounds more like too many amps are being drawn or the power supply has a problem. New power supplies are not as good as the "old" ones and develop some strange issues, like not enough power (amps) actually getting through. I assume heavy gauge wire. How many watts are you transmitting with?

Vertex ce82 on my laptop says ce92win power on radio trying to program vertex 2200 mobile radio
Hi Shawn,

The problem is on the screen for you to see.....

You need to downgrade your CE OS to Win CE82, else you r Vertex software won't work, but downgrading is futile, so unless you can get hold of a friends Pocket book PC running Win CE OS 82, you may have problems.

This is a Win CE Operating System fault rather than Vertex software fault.

You say laptop, Win CE OS is for the smaller Pocket Book PCs as far as I'm aware.

If you're running that OS on a laptop PC, that can cause you lots more problems.

I hope this answer clears up the issue a little.

Sony Walkman WM-EX190 won't play tape when play button is locked into place? model WM-EX190, the tape can be FF (Fast forward) and reversed no problem, and can still be played when applying some pressure to play button, but when pushed and locked into place the tape stops completely. The gear that switches between capstans for FF and Reverse does get pushed down by a spring when in play, and a small lever comes up underneath it to contact it. I'm thinking it may be putting too much pressure onto the gear and stopping the tape, but I'm not sure. I've cleaned it with Isopropyl Alcohol, used tape speed adjuster, and checked the belt; all seems to be fine. Like I said it's just a guess.
