I have an 8 year old jvc hd61z456 tv. The picture is dark even after replacing he lamp with 2 new ones. Each time the picture is dark. Is it a bad ballast?

Test the voltage to the bulbs and see if it meets specs. May be a power supply problem.

Dell inspiron b130 laptop screen is dark if I use a flashlight I can see screen and operate computer. WHen starting computer Dell Logo is normal for about 3 seconds then screen is dark. Operates fine...

Your backlight has failed. I would suggest getting it replaced.

very possible unit has bad optical engine .May not be worth repairing.Optical engine is complete unit that includes lamp,LCD panels, fans,optics and other parts.They come complete and cost about 3-6 hundred dollars ..thanks

Problem with my 61 inch LIFI

I had the same problem, turned out to be the bulb, had it replaced and now I`m having problems with the new bulb (dark picture).By the way the first bulb lasted only 8 months and it has been 8 months since the new one was put in, so much for the 5 year bulb.

Dark Color on TV. Can't adjust the color correctly

Having same problem now for a second time on a 57T500. First time was a bad green bulb that was covered under warranty. Only lasted 2 years....currently debating wether to fix or buy a new set. Bulbs cost about $300. Set is only 5 years old, so very dissapointed with quality.
