Washer won't cycle through...

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II washer, Model #LSQ8511KQ0.  When I start a load it normally agitates hard for a few minutes, stops for 30 seconds and then switches to a softer agitation.  It's not switching to the softer agitation.  I've tried manually turning it to different spots on the control and the only place I can get it to agitate slowly is on the delicate cycle. It stops dead at the point where it should drain.

What do you suppose it could be?

It was not the cycle timer, but the lid switch.

Unfortunately I found out after it was fixed that my brother in law could have hard wired it... but instead I paid nearly $200 to have it repaired.  Next time I'm calling HIM FIRST!   uuggh!

Thanks for telling me your problem is solved, but your brother

in-law did a good thing by not straight wiring the switch. That keeps arms from being pulled into the spin cycle. That service guy charged $155.00 more than I would. Hey you helped me learn something today! Thanks JT

Yes it is a timer issue, and yes the whole timer will need to be replaced. If you are handy it is not very hard. You can order the timer from marcone.com with your model # and it will show you a parts breakdown so you can see hoe to replace it easier

Whirlpool top load washer no low-speed agitation. The unit fills, starts the wash cycle with normal agitation, but after a few minutes it just sits there soaking until the it's time to drain/spin. Drains...

Either the wire going to motor for non working speed is loose or damaged, or motor is bad. It could also possibly be timer not sending power to motor for that speed.

Whirlpool ultimate care II top load skips agitation turns

I have the same problem, and i think it is a problem with the agitator i pulled mine off, (remove softener insert below that is a seal easily removed and then a 7/16'' bolt) seems a 'clutch' mechanism between base and upper agitators is shot.

Will not spin on any rinse cycle

Hi, This washer does not have a belt. While the washer is agitating, if you lift the lid will it stop? Some models will agitate but not spin if the lid is up. It sounds to me like the lid switch might be going bad.
If you will get me a model #, I can look this up for you and give you a better idea.

Ultimate Care II - Rinse Cycle does not start

sounds like a lid switch problem. is there a clicking noise when you open and close the lid?
if not then the lid switch may need to be replaced; inexpensive.
this could also be caused by a bad timer.
also try a different speed for the rinse cycle, it may be a bad motor and it is not going into a certain speed. instead of gentle or slow speed try fast or normal, something like that.

Washer won't start spin cycle

sounds like a lid assy issue, can you hear a "clicking" just before the lid is closed, try opening nad closing a few times listening for a distinct "click" if not the machine doesnt think the door is closed and for safety reasons wont spin and drain.
