Hi friends My laptop is compaq presario c700 which has windows vista home premium as operating system. It has too much of dll errors and its performance is very dull. So i decided to change/reinstall OS. As i dont have windows vista backup or original cd i opted to install windows xp pro. I need little assistance here Can i install xp on a vista laptop as it is downgrading, if i do so where can i get drivers. Thanks.
You can install xp on a vista laptop, you will need an xp install cd and you will need to backup your data (it will be erased in the downgrade process). As for the drivers, go to your laptops manufactures site. They will have a support section for your laptop model where you can see if there are drivers for xp. If you have the hardware that will support windows 7, I would go with that. Xp is slow and no longer supported by Microsoft as of April 2014, which poses a security risk. Windows 7 will be supported for a while and is faster and more stable than xp or vista.

You might still be able to put xp or win 7 on the computer, but some aspects of the computer may not work (sound for example). You can request recovery cd from hp (about $10.00 if I remember right). If you are getting dll errors it might just be a rouge program on the computer that is causing a fuss. Download a tool from www.shouldiremoveit.com and uninstall everything marked in red. That will remove any applications that are unwanted to potentially dangerous to the computer. I can help tuneup the computer if you would like. See my website at www.turpintech.net

I will give u all drivers link....go to hp.com and search it..
for modem -sp33442, for audio-sp35270, for sm bus controller-sp36492, for quick lounch sp38171, for UAA sp32395, for webcam sp37849, download all drivers and install it.
and install drivers follow these steps:
Open device manager and right-click on Audio device on High definition Audio Bus.
Select Install from a list of specific location (Advanced) Click Next
Select Don’t Search. I will choose the driver to install.
Select Sound, Game & video controller from the list of Hardware type
Click on Have Disk
Click on Browse and navigate to C:\swsetup\sp35270 and click on .ini file OK
Click Next
It will give you an update driver warning message. Click on yes.
It will start installing the driver
Click on Finish..
follow these steps to all drivers install.
