Whirlpool super capacity 465

I have 2 problems with my Oven any help would be appreciated. When the oven is put into broil and hits 500 degrees inside it immediately switches to Self-Clean mode and the CPU locks the door with the food inside. You have to unplug it and wait 10 mins to be able to open the door again. The second is the oven will work at 350+ temp fine for an hour, then after an hour the temp drops to 300 degrees and wont go to displayed temp. Even if you raise the temp to 475 degrees it will only go up to 320 degrees. After you turn off the oven for an hour and it cools down you can use it again at 350-425 degrees for the first hour then it happens again. Any insights would be appreciated! I do own a ohm meter and know how to use it. :)

Seems the thermostat is malfunctioning...thus when baking at 500..thats quite high...it keeps getting hotter past that point to where the oven thinks its in self cleaning mode. Also seems like the problem because when it cools down your allowed to use it again. There is no way to test it with an ohmmeter. Just remove and replace.

In an attempt to self clean my oven, I pushed the auto clean button and then pressed start. Instead, nothing happened, but now have a message on the panel reading E1on the left side of panel and -F5- on the right side of panel. I am unable to clear it or operate the oven now.

SOURCE: Whirlpool self cleaning oven, Super capacity 465, door will not close

I had the same FSE error which the whirpool web site advises that you will need to schedule a service appt to fix. Instead I leaded against the door while initiating the cleaning cycle and the door locks and oven cleans fine.

SOURCE: Oven Door Lock

We have a Jenn-Aire self cleaning oven. The cleaning latch would only open if BOTH knobs for the cleaned oven are set to cleaning. Then the latch opened right away.

Hit button for auto clean a Whirlpool self cleaning oven super capacity 465. After I hit the button 3:30 comes on screen then I hit start and it starts beeping with a message of F5E1. Help?

that's a problem with the latch assy. if the oven works don't worry about it,your better off not using the self clean, the oven gets up to 1000 degrees and can damage the electronics in the oven, seen it before and tell people not to use it,use easy off works just as good and you won't damage anything in the oven, people do this right before the holidays and then you go out and the clock assy. is bad or the latch gets damaged and the parts have to be ordered and they can't use the oven for the holidays, some of the clock assy. are big bucks,it's not just the clock it has a computer board that the clock is built into and they can cost from 160 to 500 dollars or more or if the oven is old you can't get the parts anymore,if your oven is working forget the self clean.

OVEN TURNING OFF BY ITSELF. I THINK THE CODE ON IT IS SAYING F2

Hi!
The F2 code means Oven Temperature Too High. When this code is present do the following:
1. Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC).

2. For SELF CLEAN models: check door lock operation.
3. Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective.

Remember: Oven control (ERC) measures resistance of sensor circuit, not actual oven temperature.

A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.
