The top screen has a black spot in the middle of it.  I bought this Nintendo DS lite in June for a grandson's birthday.  I have the box but no receipt and the store will not let me return it.  Solutions?

A black spot means the top LCD screen is cracked / broken unfortunatelly for you.

If you are technically inclined you can buy a replacement in any online store and replace it by yourself but its a bit complicated as you practically need to carefully dissasemble all the unit to do that and would need at least some skils, a special thomson 3 windings small screwdriver (sometimes the same store sells it) and small blade and philips screewdrivers. You can find a video and instructions to do that over the web and decide if too difficult for you.

Good Luck...

Lines appearing on the top screen they do not fade or move, lines are quite thick, ds was bought for a xmas present last year any help what i can do with it please.

Call Nintendo (1-800-255-3700), you are covered. You do not need a receipt, just the serial number from the back of the ds is all you need. They will replaced with a new one.

Nick625343,

Your DS Lite is damaged and needs to be sent to Nintendo for repair.

Nintendo will likely tell you the unit is beyond repair and must be replaced.

If you want to avoid the middle man, you can always purchase a new DS Lite from your local electronics retailer.

My grandson dropped his Nintendo DS, now he has a black screen. Can it be fixed

I would call nintendo to see if they could fix this as it may be under warranty, otherwise, you may need to pay to fix this.

Top Screen of DS Lite broken

Replace upper screen and the Upper front bezel.
Or replace the upper screen and the complete DS Lite Housing. You can find them on the well known auction sites. Please be aware that you must know what your are doing. If in doubt, send it to Nintendo or a local Nintendo repair service
