I got a new cd dvd rom drive for my dell latitude d610 and it is not working it does not open

it must not have been installed properly. Check the device manger to check whether it registers & if so update the driver

The D610 second battery is installed in the slot occupied by the CD Rom.
This is an additional omponent that can be purchased to extend the battery life for the laptop.

Unless you have this battery module installed the error is completely normal.

If I understand you, there is an 'on board' modem and you have now added a card?
If that is the case, it may be necessary to disable the on board device via BIOS setup before expecting the add-in card to work. They could well be interfering with each other.
