It all started with the green light, by the eject button, flashing quickly. When I opened up Toast Titanium 5.2.3, it did could not find the drive. I can't open the tray to insert a CD let alone burn a CD. Around six months ago, I replaced the Fire Wire cable. Could it be out again?
I can't get the CD RW to open tray. It should open even if it isn't connected to a computer. The eject light just flashes continously. The power supply flashes also.I can't get the CD RW to open tray. It should open even if it isn't connected to a computer. The eject light just flashes continously. The power supply flashes also.

I just moved and am plugging in all my computer stuff. Everything was working before it got unplugged.
I need help connecting my Que! Fire cd burner to my G4 Mac. The burner is model #QPCDRW2410FEM. I have plugged in the Firewire and Power supply cables. The green light comes on but it only flashes and the eject will not open. What have I done wrong? Toast does not recognize the burner. Do I need to re-install the software? Please help.

Was wondering if you have resolved your problem? Having exact same issue with my drive. I tried website and number to QPS company provided with product, it seems they have changed, do you have any updated info about QPS?

Manually Removing a Tape Cartridge
If problem-determination procedures identify the tape drive as the source of the problem and you are unable to eject the tape cartridge using the eject button, reset the drive to recover the cartridge:
Press and hold the eject button for 10 seconds, then release.
The status light turns amber and the drive starts through its hardware test process.
When the hardware test completes, the status light turns green.
If a cartridge is in the drive the status light flashes green until the cartridge is rewound.
The status light turns solid green when the rewind is complete and the tape drive is ready.
Although it is from an older LTO version, it must work on the newer versions too.
I also did remove tapes, if nothing worked, but it is to much to tell and show here.
NOTE: Allow at least 10 minutes for the rewind process to complete.
CD Stuck in Device First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu. If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X. Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared. If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar. Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button. Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism. Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray. Restart the computer while holding down Command-Option-O-F, to enter the Open Firmware prompt. Type "eject cd" without the quotes, and press return. The disk ought to eject. To start into OS X, type "mac-boot" without the quotes. Press return, and the computer will continue with the startup. (This will not work on an Intel Mac. There is no Open Firmware on Intel Macs. ) If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.
Try these tips.....usually holding down the touchpad buttton while tapping the eject button during bootup works.

A CD or DVD disc can become stuck in your Macintosh. It may not be appearing on your desktop or could be causing the computer to lock up if the computer cannot recognize it properly.

Its the drive. Most of the problems with the drive not opening is the belt slipping inside. If you can find a new belt for the motor then change it. Otherwise I would Swap out the board to the new drive and it should solve your problem.
This is the tray getting stuck on the PS2 shell/casing. I can fix mine as it does the same thing but I tap it one quick time after I hit the eject button and it will usually open. Don't try to pry the tray open or this will make the problem worse.
If this drive happens to be one of the recent NEC/Optiarc drives then the drive is stuck in safe mode.
At (post boot) repeatedly press the eject button and the drawer should
open and recover the drive. (only relevant to NEC drives 357x/457x or
newer).
You can get the DVD out by putting a pin into the little hold on the other side of the eject button. Try putting an audio CD into the drive and see if it recognizes it. If it won't see anything and there's no light, it's probably broken and time for a trip to the computer repair shop of your choice.
Turn off the tape drive. (Switch in the back of the unit. Wait 2 minutes and then turn unit back on. Tape drive should issue a write data command and then rewind the tape. After rewind completes the tape should eject. If it does not eject after rrewind completes than try holding the eject button for 5 seconds to attempt a "force eject"
Note: Do not repeatedly press the eject button as this can cause damage to the tape and the tape drive.
try, go to my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager and go down the list to cd/dvd drives, click on the '+' and right click on your listed drive and select uninstall.
restart the notebook and then the drive will be re installed with drivers automatically.
it may be a firmware or driver error.
I can't get the CD RW to open tray. It should open even if it isn't connected to a computer. The eject light just flashes continously. The power supply flashes also.
