The "Guides" around the drum are worn out or the bearing is bad, which usually causes it. Replace the bearing and guides. You Tube has many videos on these fix's. and there is a good chance your machine will have one to view.

SOURCE: 2001 Gibson Washing Machine - Front Loader

This can be a symptom of drum bearing wear. A quick check for wear is to see if the inner drum moves up and down relative to the fixed outer drum. It should only move a minute amount. If it moves more than a millimetre or two, it is probably worn bearings.
You can obtain bearing kits for most makes. See this very useful link specific to an AEG model, but it is a good general reference: http://www.eveshamsquash.co.uk/appliances/aeg_bearing.html
Also see an excellent article by Chris Tran on Hoptpoint WMA series bearing replacement, at http://www.christran.net/washingmachine1.htm
If it is making unusual noises while washing too, check there is not a bra wire or similar object trapped half way into one of the drum holes. A high pitched whine is sometimes caused by the motor bearings (but most brush/commutator motors whine a bit anyway on higher speeds, it is normal). Oil sparingly so as not to contaminate the carbon brushes.

Hope that helps...........

SOURCE: drum does not spin

We have an LG TROMM with the same problem, 3 years old as well. We bought the extended warranty (Huge waste of $$$$).  So far they have determined it is not the motor or either of the control boards.  We think it might be a relay switch or possibly the brake.  Good luck with yours, we just went out and bought a new washer.

SOURCE: I have an LG WM2277HW

remove the top panel to inspect the spring and suspension you could have one that is off you remove the upper panel by three screws located in back of the machine on the lid itslef
also look down the back side you should see a belt that is on a pulley or a dive motor that is attached to the drum look at this type of pulley in the center of it many times that small center bolt that holds that pulley on comes loosend and starts to back out of the machine which ends up casing a sort of wobble when its washing the clothes also ends up making your belt on the belt models warped out and it eventually ends up falling off so all in all remove the top lid panel and slide the lid backwards and then inspect by running your washer and watching whats going on while the lid is off. please remember to rank this opinion and if i can answer any other questions please message me back i thank you again have a great day

Why does dryer spin with door open?

Hi Mandy,

The fact that the light bulb is out *and* the drum continues to spin when the door is opened - all point to a faulty door switch.

This switch tells the machine the "status" of the door position. When the door is open, it turns on the light *and* stops / prevents the drum from starting. When closed, the light is shut off *and* the drum is permitted to spin. You should have the switch serviced as if a wire came loose it adds a potential shock hazard - in addition to the safety issue of placing hands into a spinning drum.

Drum wont turn.pust start and hear a buzz but drun wont turn

I have found that the switch activated by the door close or turns on the interior light when open on is likely the problem. You may notice that if the door is open and you push the start button, it will buzz. So if the door is closed and you get this buzz when pushing the start button, there is a problem with the door switch. The start button "thinks" the door is open, and therefore not start. The defective door switch needs to be replaced. At least highly likely.

Washer will nolt go in to spin after water is pump out...can get it to work if I look safty on.. and spin tub by hand and it will start to turn...

if you can hear the motor trying to start the drum spinning you might be able to do that. if your not hearing the motor trying to turn the drum, then there is something wrong in the timer switches. This timer switch is not all that difficult to replace if you get the proper and exact replacement part

Washing machine drum wont spin or turn by hand

If you cannot turn the drum by hand, then the main drum bearings have probably seized up, or there is something stuck between the inner and outer drum.

When you press the start button the dryer hums and doesnt turn

first thing you need to do is open the door and try to rotate drum by hand it it is not turn by hand that mean there is some thing stack in your blower fan. if you can turn the drum by hand you need two people to check this problem..one open the door there is one push button, push that button and hold now second person need to push the start button when you heard hums sound the turn the drum by hand again if your dryer stat spin that mean you have bad motor. (forgive me for my english)
