It could be that the new version of skype is not compatible with the older ibook, what you can do is go to http://www.oldapps.com/mac/skype.php and download one which is compatible with the system you are currently using. It may be a case though that skype will require the newer version to work properly though. Hope this helps.
you have to google the problem and see if anyone else has that issue and how they resolved it.
it sounds like there is a compatibility issue with the Skype software and your windows i would delete and reinstall Skype or try a different version of skype.
i know over the last 10 years a lot of laptops have had ssues with the earler skype software.
Hi,
What is the exact problem u faced to install it? I think the Skype version is no supported with windows XP. Check that the Skype version is compatible with your system and OS, then install it. Or you have to download windows XP PC version.
you should look for it in Philips Support website !!! there you'll get all necessary software and drivers for a proper funcionality of your Voip080 ; and possible updates for new Skype version compatibility
close the voip philips application from the task bar. Then do the same for skype. Now Start Skype again followed by the voip software. If that doesnt work uninstall both software and reinstall installing the voip 080 first, then upgrading the skype. You may still receive a warning at first but it will work
I had a similar problem when I downloaded the latest version of Skype, my Philips VOIP080 USB Phone no longer worked, I could hear them, but they couldn't hear me.
I couldn't find a newer driver on the Philips website so I uninstalled my old driver then reinstalled it again and now it works.
Try it and see if this solution will work for you as well.
I fixed the problem by going to Skyp's Options, Privacy, click on Manage other programs' access to Skype , checked the option - Allow this program to use Skype (program VOIP080.exe) . For some reason none of the options were checked and that's why the phone was dead.
