Magnet is connected to one3 terminal on the rotating base of the crane and 2 the connector that presses onto the top of the spool that the line for the hook attaches to. Note when the magnet is activated, the red light in the crane cab lights up.

I need a wiring diagram (e unit) for Lionel 1688 loco

You didn't specify what wiring you needed to know. But try these two links below. The one that gives the list of engines, pick your unit, 1688 and the second page that comes up has the wiring diagram. The other link should take you to some pages about E-units which may or may not be helpful.
While there click on their Library link and root around. The pages that display are all downloadable .pdfs and super useful. I print them and have been making a repair manual folder. Or you can buy their CDs, that's up to you of course.

servos slightly quivering with occasional jolt brand new transmitter and receiver T14SG, R7108SB receiver, 7985 digital high torq servos, 4.8v. Hitec Gyro. no pull pull cables or long rods that might cause interference. What i was thinking maybe not enough voltage for the digital servos.

I have a y shaped extension cord for the remote on a carousel but have no idea how it functions. I have a photo of the three plug ends. Two yellow plug ends with five pins each - 1 is labeled 150 hz and the other 1000 hz. And then there is the black plug end that has no label.
