Format SD Card
SOURCE: I have an a500 Polaroid
Usually this happens when the card is bad so better try a different card for this camera , but after trying a second card and still same problem the firmware of the camera is the one that is bad and needs to be repair.

I'm sure you aren't missing something. Have you tried to take a picture and connect your camera to your PC ? if your PC don't have any problem to read and copy the picture, I think you can just ignore the notification.
But if you got any problem, like your PC can't read your data in your camera memory, than this formatting would be necessary. Not via camera of course, but via PC. If you can connect your camera to your PC and the memory card read as removable disc, then you can format it from Windows Explorer. But if you can't, take off the memory card and format it via car reader. And I suggest you to format before you take any pictures because formatting process will erase all of your data inside the memory card.
Hope this help and be kind to rate please.

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.
