your processors might need to be reflowed. this can be done with a heat gun but you risk frying your board if overheated.

Your processor needs a reflow. A BGA reflow station is the best to use, heatguns can blast heat everywhere, but a professional station will concentrate it onto the required area.

Red Ring of Death: Red Flashing XBOX 360 Lights Explained Common Xbox 360 Red Ring Errors The XBOX has a reported 54.2% failure rate which makes the XBOX 360 gaming consoles' worst "lemon" to date. If you find yourself with the red flashing lights error, --> lg.php?category_id=15&content_type=article&content_type_id=2663399&key_page=682482001924178892&site_id=1&bannerid=11791&campaignid=3153&zoneid=23&loc=1&referer=http%3a%2f%2fwww.associatedcontent.com%2farticle%2f2663399%2fred_ring_of_death_red_flashing_xbox.html%3fcontent_type%3darticle%26content_type_id%3d2663399&cb=8da55f49a0 follow this guide to try and pinpoint the problem with your XBOX 360.

1 Red Ring = Serious Hardware Failure
I f your XBOX 360 has a 1 red flashing light error, you're more than likely in big trouble. The 1 flashing red ring of light can be due to GPU or CPU failure, RAM overheating, a DVD drive error, or some serious problem with your Xbox 360's internal components. The most common 1 flashing red ring lights error is the E74 error. The E74 error is no easy fix for the Xbox 360 and usually has to be repaired by the manufacturer [though some have managed to repair it with the heat gun trick - but be careful]

2 Red Rings = Overheating
Mostly all red flashing lights on the Xbox 360 rings are due to overheating in some way or other, but the 2 red rings singles out overheating as the main issue. When doing the X-Clamp fix the 2 red rings are required to fix the Xbox 360 by overheating the CPU. If you get this Xbox 360 error without doing the X-Clamp fix, you probably just need to let your Xbox 360 cool down for a few hours. Make sure that all vents aren't blocked off and that your Xbox fans are working properly in order to repair this problem.

3 Red Rings = Basic Hardware Failure
The most common error on the Xbox 360 is the 3 red rings - also known as the Red Rings of Death (RRoD). This flashing lights problem is the main cause of Xbox 360's 54.2% failure rate. The 3 red flashing lights can be due to lots of different errors but is mainly due to the X-Clamps in your Xbox 360 and overheating. Fortunately, lots of people were able to fix this issue using the X-Clamp and heat gun fix. Follow this list of error codes to find out the real issue with the 3 red rings because there are quite a few of them.

E73 error one red ring of death bottom right

There are links that show you how to repair this issue yourself (but they are not very clear and every thing is very fragile inside the XBOX 360) or you can contact me via email at [email protected] and we can discuss the issue further as I recently repaired my XBOX 360 with the same issues and it works better than when was brand new. There are additional measures that must be taken besides the x-clamp replacement which are certain heat syncs that prevent it fron sensing false over heating issues.

Red ring on my xbox360

I recently had the E74 system error (1 red light) which started with as ‘black snow’ on the screen. There is an extended 3 year warranty that covers E74 and 3 Red Lights/RROD errors only. It seems to have been put down as a graphics chip and/or over heating problem.

I looked in to fixing it myself but thought might as well let someone else graze their hands getting the case off!

Despite the horror stories of it taking forever MS seemed to have pulled their finger out and made this a very efficient process, I got mine back within a week (I live in the UK and repairs get shipped to Germany).

Here's a quick breakdown of the process:

1. Go to www.xbox.com/support and click on the relevant link relating to your problem.

2. Go through the walkthrough. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AS IT COULD JUST BE A LOOSE CONNECTION. If you've still no joy you can click a link to pick whether you are a US resident or not.

3. Type in serial number of the console (you don't need any receipts, I bought mine off eBay).

4. They send you a shipping label and a link to arrange UPS to come and pick up your console.

5. Bite your nails and rock manically in a corner until your console comes back (you can track the whole process at xbox.com).

I've sent back a first generation 360 and an Elite. Certainly worth considering as they will repair or replace your console!

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907534 3 Red Light (Red Ring Of Death/RROD)

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941377 E74 Error

If you want to attempt to fix the error yourself (and have no guarantee of sorting it and invalidate your warranty) search YouTube for ‘E74’ fix or ‘xbox towel trick’. This is supposed to overheated the console and re-solder dry solder joints. Only try if your warranty has run out and/or you own a bricked console!

Please rate me if any of this helped J

How do i fix the x box 360 3 red rings of death

The Xbox 360 e74 error is a rather common problem on Xbox consoles, with similar roots to the now infamous red ring of death problem.
The e74 issue is actually caused by a problem with the scaler (ANA or HANA) chips located next to the graphics processor inside your Xbox 360.
It is believed that the error with the scaler video chip which causes the e74 error on your Xbox 360 is caused by overheating. This is also the cause of other errors such as the no video problem, as well as red lights in the power ring of an Xbox console.

To fix the Xbox 360 e74 code, there are a few steps you need to take-
1. Firstly, leave this article open, go to your Xbox 360 console and then remove the AV cable. Blow any dust out of it, then re-insert it snugly back into the console until a clicking is heard. Power on your console again and see if the problem has been fixed.
2. If that does not work, borrow another AV cable (get one off a friend or family member, or from your local video game rental shop) Try using this one in your Xbox 360.
3. If replacing the AV cable does not work, then you will have to repair the scaler chip and graphics processor inside your Xbox in order to fix the e74 problem. To do this, you will need an Xbox 360 repair guide, which will contain the video instruction files you need to be able to fix your console properly. You cannot fix the e74 yourself without one.
It is important to note that most Xbox repair guides focus on fixing the "red ring of death". However, the process for repairing the e74 will also be covered in the same guide as well, as it is extremely similar.
