Re: many colors appear
I don't know the C-720 specifically but many Olympus digicams have special effect settings and you may have inadvertently switched one of them on. If you have the manual, look through that for information on where in the camera menu such settings are found & then check them. Failing that, there is a menu item to reset the camera to Factory Defaults - see if that helps.

not convergence issue from description and if lens did not help when cleaned have a close look at the mirror as well to make sure not grimy or dirty, usually can peek in from the rear and up to examine it.
From the age of the set it could also be the tubes getting old but that would be unusual as have seen this set before and the tubes do not usually fail---problem if in the video circuit presents some challenges as a lot of parts for this set are no longer available.
take a look at the mirror with a bright light to see if smudged or grimy---looking straight at it may not show the dirt.
if you lose your video or weaken the video driver you just might be looking at straight color that looks funny like you described... but looking at this picture ... I see the flash from the camera and and lots of video (the black and white) but it does look dark over-all... which I would first try to reset my screen control that is located on the bottom of the flyblack.
the convergence looks fine.
I had recently noticed the same thing happening with mine. Then the left
half of the screen turned black and has various red, green, and blue
vertical lines. The right half of the screen shows has the picture
just fine. It's exactly right down the middle of the screen.
Its a slight possibility that a 2.00 Part called a capacitor could be bad on the screen drive voltage source. But most likly it sounds like the Picture tubes are comming to the end of there life expectancy. If the crts are weak there is a crt rejuvinator that could possibly clean the grids off each color gun. But this is a crap shoot, as sometimes it destroys the tubes. These type of repairs are not for the handi-man or a consumer to do. There are no real user replaceable parts inside so unless your able to solder and know the HI Voltage saftey issues, you should call a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck
