Hello maymet,

This sounds like the HV protection circuit is cutting off the TV due to a high current event in the set. This could be a problem in the High Voltage section of your TV (Horizontal output transistor, Integrated High Voltage Transformer, and y of the deflection components, and or the CRT in cases of shorts).

I would suggest that if you do not have a background in electronics, you should have an experienced TV technician troubleshoot and repair this problem.
This is due to the nature of the dangerous voltages that are present in the television.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

SOURCE: Blinks

The blinking standby light should be in a repeating pattern of a fixed count of blinks. Please post that count here as that will indicate the circuit in which a problem was detected. Armed with that info, we can then tell you the problem and probable solution.

Thanks,
Dan

Sony wega tv was on and it shut itself off and we tried to reset power and the standby light is now blinking red 6 times with no picture.

Why not try this.

If it is a tube type.

1. Turn off the TV.
2. Disconnect it from the outlet.
3. Connect the power cord after 1 minute
4. Power the TV.

KV-27FS120 blinks 2 times continuously...

This is not for a DIY're.

It is possible that the flyback transformer and the horizontal output transistor have failed. Also there may be damage in the power supply when these components fail.

When troubleshooting, it is important that the tech locate the cause of the fault and also change the related components.

After the parts are changed, the power supply and the high voltage setups must be done to make sure that the voltages are in specs.

This type of work must be done by an experienced TV tech. He will have the necessary test equipment, tools, service manuals, and training. There are some very serious safety issues when working in a TV set.
