Transmission can anyone tell me from experience or otherwise if it's beneficial to change transmission fluid & filter??

Surely your not waiting for 90,000 miles
to do all sorts of things
By then you should have changed your transmission
& power steering fluids at least 2 times & flushed your
brake fluid every 2 years on all vehicles
I do Air,Cabin,Fuel Filter & Spark Plugs every 3 year
What your asking is Manufacture Recommended Service
Wait on that you will either break down or have a vehicle
that won't last much past 100,000
The question you ask is in your owners manual
You need a vehicle Log Book
You need to develop your own Preventative
Maintenance Schedule based on time as well
as mileage & forget the manufacturescheduled
maintenance,your schedule will include theirs
& much most based on your lifetime of knowledge
& experience & repairs
You treat ALL Vehicles the same
It's not a wait & see game
It is about education & preventing problem
down the road
No vehicle manufacture really care what you do
or they would tell you about power steering,brake
fluid & stop with the silly 100,000 spark plug & trans
fluid changed,by then the damage will be done

Ignore anyone that tells you that any filter or fluid is lifetime. That means literally nothing. If you actually ask a Toyota engineer (and I have) lifetime means the lifetime of the part. In other words, when the part goes bad, it has reached the end of its lifetime.
In my experience, you can wait between 60-90 thousand miles in between fuel filter and transmission fluid changes. So whenever you do the transmission fluid, do the fuel filter at the same time while you are down there.

I would not recommend flushing trans fluid you risk
getting debris into the solenoids

You will get people telling you other wise

I just remove the pan clean it & refill

If a trans is old it may slip if get all the fluid out
by flushing

You drive a couple weeks then if it is okey you
drop the pan & change it again & that time change
the filter

I did once own a trans repair shop, I'm giving you
my opinion on 48 years personal experience,not
as a former business owner.

You change trans & power steering every 3 years
& never go over 30,000 miles on any vehicle

i would atleast change the trans fluid and filter.

How many miles on car?
Do you know the service record for the transmission?
Having any problems?
Does the fluid have a normal color? Smell Burnt??
Personal Opinion:
If the car has high miles and the transmission seems to work well and the fluid seems normal let it be. If you decide to change the fluid, use the mfg, recommended type only (no synthetic), change the filter,gasket and clean the pan (do not flush).

How many miles, when was transmission filter & fluid last changed?

If you can do it yourself, for less than $20 bucks probably, change transmission filter & fluid and see if that corrects problem, otherwise find a transmission shop you trust. Most all will tell you it needs to be rebuilt at big bucks, tough economy, they need to make some money.

Transmission fluid type ATF+4.

The filter is located on the bottom of the transmission, inside the oil pan.
