Cranking/grinding noise during wash cycle
SOURCE: makes a loud bumping noise when washing.
About 76 cents worth.
We have had this machine for about 18 months with one
service call which involved the pump being replaced. Of
course that didn't fix the noise problem.
There are two tabs in the front of the washer that have to be
pushed in for the lid to be raised. There is a plastic shroud
around the top of the drum that comes off by snapping the tabs
and disconnecting one hose. In the center of the drum at the
bottom is a plastic cover plate over the bolt that secures the
drum to the drive shaft. Pop that off with a screwdriver and
remove the bolt with a 7/16 " socket and rachet. Grab the
drum under the lip at the top and pull it out of the washing
machine. Maybe you'll find enough change to buy a coffee.
There is also a plate held by two 1/4" screws at the back.
You might remove those screws and see if there is any more
change there.
Hope this works for you.

It appears your clutch assembly has failed in this instance.
For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...
FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.
PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.
If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.
If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.
Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

You need an agitator repair kit. The plastic pieices are probably worn out and this is common. the parts are cheap and easy to replace. Make sure you get the grease for this as well. Parts are listed below for reference, you can get them at most appliance repair shops and save the shipping costs. If you need instructions on this repair let me know and I will post them, but basically remove the cap and bolt that holds the agitator on and it slips up and out. I will post some repair notes in another quick post.
