Thanks for providing your model number! If other people would do the same they could get help to solve their refrigerator or other appliance problem. Try turning the timer dial clockwise slowly with a flat head screw driver. The location of the timer in your model refrigerator is located inside the control panel inside the fresh food section. Click HERE to see part location number 6 That is the defrost timer=> 482493 Defrost Timer Sometimes there is a round hole on the outside of the control panel where you can place the screw driver and sometimes that hose is covered by a plastic plug. Anyway try turning the timer slow clockwise until fans and compressor stop. Leave the refrigerator off for up to 35 minutes and if it does not restart on it's own then simply turn the timer again slowly until it does restart. If the refrigerator defrost while you have forced defrost this way and timer will not restart refrigerator again on it's own then replacing the timer will be the correct part to replace. If turning the timer does not help in getting defrost we will need to remove items in the freezer to a safe location so you can see what is happening behind the rear wall of the freezer. Item location 33 in the photo HERE is the 2323197 Defrost Heater Assembly Testing the defrost heater can be explained in the video above. Part location number 35 is the=> 2321799 Defrost Thermostat You can test this part but I always change if I need to remover the rear panel of the freezer. I just think it is a good idea. I am here should you have questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

Turn the timer slowly clockwise until the compressor and fans stop. Leave the timer alone in that position that turned the compressor and fans off for up to 35 minutes. In the first few minutes after the timer turned fans and compressor off you should be getting defrost. If timer comes on by itself and you have defrost results the timer and defrost heater are good. If the timer does not turn the refrigerator back on but the defrost took place then replace the timer. Every different refrigerator or freezer has a different amount of time on for cooling and time off for defrost so it is important to know what the model number is to answer the part number and time off/on ratio. What is the model number of the refrigerator that the timer is on? Sea Breeze

Freezer is not deforsting

If your model you listed is a TFX27PRBWW it will have a defrost timer located in the fresh food compartment and behind the controls. It's location is 257 in this photo HERE I would like you to turn the timer clockwise slowly until youi hear the compressor and fans stop. This should put the refrigerator into defrost if the defrost heater is still working. Did you hear any crackling or sizzle when place into defrost this way? Wait up to 35 minutes for the timer to come out of defrost and it should restart the refrigerator compressor and fans. If it does not come on automatically then simply turn the timer slowly clockwise again until they do restart. If you need to turn timer again to start refrigerator you will need to replace the timer=> WR9X489 Defrost Timer
2_1_2013_8_42_52_pm.jpg

If the defrost timer is not the problem then we move to the freezer side, remove the rear panel of freezer and defrost the frost covering the evaporator as in this photo HERE The model TFX27PRBWW takes a=> WR51X10055 Defrost Heater Assembly
2_1_2013_8_53_33_pm.jpg

and the defrost thermostat=> WR50X122 Defrost Thermostat
2_1_2013_9_08_25_pm.jpg

The defrost heater is location 230 and the defrost thermostat is location 24 in this photo HERE Instructions in testing these parts are located on the parts pages I listed above. Please let me know if the model number is different than the one above your post so I may help you better, Thanks Sea Breeze

Freezer is not getting cold

Can you remove the rear panel you see the ice buildup on the evaporator? I believe your refrigerator has a defective defrost element. You need to unplug refrigerator remove the panel and see what type of frost pattern you have. Here is a link to what you may see behind that panel=> HERE This is a link to what you said you see with frost on the rear panel=> HERE Can you confirm that your refrigerator model number is GSL25JFPBS? Look around the fresh food section door for your model number. Here is a photo HERE with the locations number 230 is the defrost heater=> WR51X10055 Defrost Heater Assembly
2_1_2013_2_48_36_pm.jpg

And location number 240 is the defrost thermostat=> WR50X10068 Defrost Thermostat
2_1_2013_2_54_44_pm.jpg

I would like to know what frost pattern and the true model number of your refrigerator so I can help you better. If it has the frosted over evaporator like in the photo above you can defrost with a hair drier and the refrigerator may cool again up to a week until you can replace the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. How to test these parts can be found on the same page as the part numbers I posted here, Thanks Sea Breeze

Siemens ka..n freezer problem

Look inside the back wall of the freezer to see if you have a layer of frost building. If yes this will indicate that the refrigerator is missing its defrost cycle. When you miss defrost it is usally number 1 the defrost control. Number 2 is the defrost heater has burned out and #3 the defrost thermostat. For you to look up the correct replacement parts you will need to find your refrigerators model number found most times inside the fresh food compartment. Click Here for=> Bosch Refrigerator Defrost ControlsI will be here to answer any questions you may have or if you have your model number let me know and I will help you find the parts you need, Thanks Sea Breeze

The unit freezes up then don't work

OK I'm looking over the manual and as long as the model number is correct RS2630SH you may have only one of three things causing this. I needing to go to another website to confirm the type defrost system yours has. I will send you a manual when I return. It appears that you have a higher possibility of a defrost heater or defrost thermostat defective.I am getting mixed answers on a decision of a defrost control board. Just make sure your model number does not have a different number or letter missing. I will send as much as I can find on your model but checking the defrost heater and defrost thermostat would be the first thing to do. Unplug refrigerator and remove contents of the freezer rear wall. we need to use a meter to check continuity through the defrost heater. If one is bad replace both defrost heater part number DA47-00154A and defrost thermostat part number DA47-10160F.
One model came with a defrost control board but I just cannot find one on that model number so the motherboard controls defrost. I will send manual shortly. Thanks, Sea Breeze

GSS201EMBWW Unit is freezijng up.

Most likely part number WR51X10101 Defrost Heater has burned out. Unplug and remove the rear panel inside the freezer. Defrost with a hair dryer and examine the defrost heater and look to see if burned out, It has a glass tube around the heater element and will be easy to see if burned out. If you need to replace the defrost heater you should also replace the defrost thermostat part number WR50X10054 If you don't see a problem with the defrost heater and I will instruct you on how to manually defrost to test the heater and defrost thermostat. Check for bad connections on wiring to heater and defrost thermostat. Your model has a mother control board part number WR55X10942 We may also need to check that because it does the thinking and determines the time for defrost. Let me Know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Replaced defrost heater

If this is an old mechanically controled defrost timer style refrigerator, the defrost control may still be in the defrost mode. It should advance to run within an hour. If it does not, your defrost control timer may be bad. If you posted your model number, I could advise you on where the defrost control is located, what the part numer is, and how to manually advance it to the run position.

GE Profile SxS Refrigerator wont defrost after new heater installed

If one coil was burnt out and you replaced the heaters and defrost terminator switch I would recheck the continuity through the defrost heaters. You can do this with an Ohm meter with the refrigerator unplugged. If you had an open coil in one of the heaters you did not have to replace the thermo disk. If you have a complete circuit through the heaters try using the old thermo disk. If you have a meter you can check the voltage from the heater connection on one side to the inlet side of the thermo disk with the refrigerator running in the defrost mode. You should read 115-125 Volts on the meter. This reading tells you that the defrost timer is supplying power to the heater circuit.
