Follow this test and fix it. God bless you

  1. Check the power diode This electronic component is responsible for transmitting current in one direction. If the diode becomes defective it will cause your microwave to not heat. Test the diode and replace it if necessary.
  2. High voltage capacitor Responsible for storing electricity, this part is a key component in any microwave. Remove, discharge, and test the capacitor to determine if it requires replacement.
  3. Damaged magnetron Responsible for generating waves and producing heat. When your microwave is no longer heating properly, replacement will be required.
  4. Thermal Cutoffs Examine the thermal cutoffs on both the magnetron and the oven itself. Take off one of the leads and using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check the terminals. If you get a result other than zero, replace the thermal cutoffs.

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and
disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should be a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel.

Please write back with more details if you need further help.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

The magnetron has gone and is the heart of the microwave oven, this part is the most expensive to replace, cheaper to buy new in the long run.

The keypad and clock works but the oven will not heat. and the oven makes a loud, abnormal sound when turned on. any ideas how i might get this oven running again?

If it appears to be making all the normal sounds but just a louder noise and no heat, your probably looking at a magnetron that is bad on unit. You are looking at about $100 just for the part. Hope this helps

Motor sounds louder than normal. food won't heat up.

This sound like the Magnatron (this warms the food) has gone out and needs replaced! To be honest with you ,unless you can do this repair yourself it might be cheaper to buy a new oven
I hope I was of help!
