I have same problem. I found that if I keep tablet plugged in it doesn't happen although it worries me as keeps getting hotter. Someone suggested that I try a cool cloth from freezer so I'll try that, then give update. I hear cooling fans are available for tablets also.

How do i reset an iconia one 7 tablet

For hard reset
Follow these steps
1- First turn off your Acer Iconia One 7 B1-730 completely. If you can not unlock the screen, press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds and the phone will turn off.
2- Keep holding on volume down and power keys together for a few seconds. In some devices according to the Android version the combination can be the power key and the volume key up.
3- When the Acer logo is displayed, release the buttons.
4- Move through the menu with the volume up and volume down keys until you reach the "Recovery Mode" option and press the power button to access.

Why does this Acer A3_A30 keep "thermal critical shutdown"- every time I do a jigsaw.surely the tablet shouldn't tablet get so hot

what is its ambient temp is it working in daily
temps are way higher inside the casing
if the internal fan has stopped
it will over heat the chips

you can by tablet cooling pads same as laptops

try a cool towel form freezer to rest it on and see if the tablet shuts down

My tablet keeps shutting down. Says thermal shut down. How can I fix this problem? It isn't even 3months old and won't stay on for more than 2 or 3 minutes.

Nextbooks do this when playing intensive games. They just aren't up to the demand on the CPU. Unless you were clearly warned about ths issue I'd say it is a warranty claim. Try to swap it for a games -capable brand.
