Got a virus, Norton 2006 expired

Hello, I cannot get anywhere with my laptop for the above reason. I kept putting off the expired subscription and now it has caught up with me.

What steps can I now take?

How to Remove it Manually?Noted to back up your registry and system, and set a restore point before this spyware removal in case of a mistake.

1. Stop Security Center Processes through Task Manager
2. Remove all the files associated with it in the directory of Temp in Local Settings.
3. Search all the files associated with its files with Resource Manager and delete them.
4. Remove the registry entries generated by this program.

Go to www.download.com and search for "avast home edition" or "AVG anti-virus free edition". Both are free and are excellent. Install and scan away. I used to use Norton exclusively but the past couple years I have had problems with it on a number of clients computers. I also recommend "spybot-search and destroy" and "adaware". These are also free and excellent. Many times these days what you think is a virus is actually spyware that is hijacking your browser and your system resources and jamming up your internet connection. Run the Anti-virus first, then spybot, then adaware. They will detect many of the same things, but sometimes only one program will pick up your issue and actually fix it. Spybot and adaware will also come up with a box while installing or running that says it detected your other spyware or antivirus programs and that it may cause a problem, but I have never seen any actual interference. If you still have a problem after this, head over to http://forums.spybot.info/   there are amazing people there who will walk you through anything.

My Norton Anti-Virus expired yesterday and i want it back

You will either have to purchase another subscription from Norton or use another anti-virus. I recommend using AVG, it is free for home users and ranks at the top with Symantec and McAfee.

My norton anti virus

Hi,
I haven't used Norton in years. The reason is that Norton is not as good a anti virus program as another I found. If you are up for a change and to a very good anti virus program then check out AVG. It is free and there is also a version you can buy with even more features. I have always used the free version and I have never had a virus on my computer. I am sending you the link so you can check it out. Hope it helps you as much as it did me.

Why is my renewal via my computer not valid-Visa has been charged

Email Norton and tell them your situation, they will tell you what to do to fix the problem seems like a problem that's more there doing than yours.
Or
  1. Start your Norton product.
  2. Do one of the following depending on your Norton product:
    • For Norton 360: Click My Account, and in the My Account window, click Renew Subscription.
    • For Norton 2009 products: At the top right corner of the window, click Help & Support > Subscription Status. Skip to Step 6.
    • For Norton 2008 products: In the bottom-left corner, click Subscription.
    • For Norton 2007 products: On the product tab, click Support, and then click Subscription.
    • For Norton 2006 products: On the Help & Support menu, click Subscription.
  3. Click I have already purchased a subscription, check my subscription status.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click Next.
Your Norton product checks your subscription status. This could take a minute or two.
  6. Read the information in the Status check panel, and then click Finish.
Your subscription expiration date should now be correct.
If this helps you out, feel free to leave positive feedback. Thanks for stopping at Fixya !

Message says my subscription has expired? I purchased Internet Security from Nortons on 12/7/07 why has it expired? It appars I am no longer protected and do not understand why this is.

Most of the Norton antivirus comes with one year subscription. date u mentioned here seems like more then 1 year old. That's why it says expired
If you dont want to spend any more money on antivirus then uninstall this one and download AVG from this site. this is really good antivirus for free and good for ever.
