Well u can simply clear the upper and lower filters of the concerned drive. some times when the the registryu entries for the drive gets corrupted, the cd drive doesn't show it self in my computer or even in device manager and if it does it would not read the disc. well im gonna tell u the steps so perform them very CAREFULLY and dont miss out a single step.Im very sure this would work cuz i myself have tried it on number of computer's of my frends including mine and it did worked all the time.OK?
so here we go:-
Step 1:- we have to goto the registry editor so loadTOCNode(3, 'resolution'); Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. Registry Editor starts.
Step 2: Delete the UpperFilters registry entry loadTOCNode(3, 'resolution'); 1. In Registry Editor, expand My Computer, and then expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. 2. Expand SYSTEM, and then expand CurrentControlSet. 3. Expand Control, and then expand Class. 4. Under Class, click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. 5. In the right pane (topic area), click UpperFilters.

Note An UpperFilters.bak registry entry may also appear. To delete the UpperFilters registry entry, you must click UpperFilters and not UpperFilters.bak. 6. On the Edit menu, click Delete. 7. When you receive the following message, click Yes to confirm the deletion of the UpperFilters registry entry: Are you sure you want to delete this value? The UpperFilters registry entry is removed from the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} registry subkey.

Note Do not exit Registry Editor because we haven't finshed with the whole process yet.You must have this program for the next step.
Step 3: Delete the LowerFilters registry entry loadTOCNode(3, 'resolution'); 1. 5. In the right pane (topic area), click LowerFilters.

Note An LowerFilters.bak registry entry may also appear. To delete the LowerFilters registry entry, you must click LowerFilters and not LowerFilters.bak. 6. On the Edit menu, click Delete. 7. When you receive the following message, click Yes to confirm the deletion of the LowerFilters registry entry: Are you sure you want to delete this value? The LowerFilters registry entry is removed from the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} registry subkey. 8. Exit Registry Editor.
Step 4: Restart the computer loadTOCNode(3, 'resolution'); If a CD recording program no longer works after you restart the computer, you must reinstall the CD recording program.or u can try the inbuilt cd burner like ROXIO if u not using other like NERO etc to burn the cd. i would recommend that u use a CD-RW or DVD-RW so that after burning the disc u can try erasing them too just to be sure of the normal function.

PLEASE DO RATE ME AFTER THIS,WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
THANKS :-)

Go to device manager, find the optical drive, check properties for irregularities, then uninstall the device, reboot and let the system re-install it.
Also, do you have the dvd de-coder installed, as well as the right media for the drive?
Good luck

I cant play the game an error says No disc inserted. Please insert the original "NBA2K11_EU" CD/DVD

Does your CD/DVD reader successfully read any *OTHER* CD/DVD disks?
If not, it is broken, and needs to be replaced.

If the drive works, then Insert the original 'NBA 2011' CD/DVD disk, when prompted.

HL-DT-ST DVD RAM GSA-T20N ATA Device error code 10, Laptop cant read DVD and doesn't acknowledge that there is a disc in the computer, and it even says that the driver is up to date and functional. HELP?

hi,

Error Code 10. The device is not installed, The Device Has A fault, The devices driver is not installed correctly.

Possible Solutions:- Uninstall the device, and re-install it using the device manager, Or Add new Hardware wizard, After uninstalling.
Does the drive read a CD ? this would eliminate the Cd reading. As the dvd uses a different or power increased laser beam. Do you have a good program installed for reading DVDs ( Power DVD Or Similar )

Cd dvd wont play

Many of the older DVD and CD players will not play disks recorded on a computer. This has to do mainly with the laser optical response.

There were several manufactures that manufactured their laser unit with a built in filter that would not allow their player to read non pressed CD disks (disks burned with a home computer).

When buring DVD's or CD's, use the slowest possible speed for the burn to have the highest readablity and least data errors possible for the medium.
