Fan and tank lights won't run

Unit is plugged in to a functioning outlet, both tanks are full, fan motor dial is turned up, humidity dial is turn up beyond my normal setting, and for testing turned to max, humidity in the room lower than normal. I can hear the switch click when I turn the humidity dial up. Both tanks were empty yet no empty tank lights and fan won't function. I've had this unit for some years, maintain it well and know it well so I'm pretty sure I have covered all the possible bases I know of in trouble shooting. Please help me out.

I would look at the floating switch actuator. It's common for the float to bind up in the holder which keeps it in place. If the actuator is floating free, then look at the switch itself. Could be corroded or otherwise malfunctioning.

SOURCE: 1 tank empties at once, overflow all over floor.

Ever find a solution to this? I had the same bug after 2 years working fine, felt stupid as I couldn't understand it. I replaced both tanks for no good reason then it worked fine, took it out this season and it's doing it again.

SOURCE: When both refill switches are off (bottles are

The most typical problem like this indicate that there may be dirt built up in the fan compartment. The easiest way to check is to unplug the fan unit from the back of the humidifiier and lift it out, turn it over and check for any dirt or build up in the compartment. Once you have the power pack out of the unit, check and see if there is any damage to the spring for the shut off''s. There might be a piece of the shut off causing a short in the circuit stealing power from the motor. Correct alignment of the power pack/fan compartment is essential to correct operations also.

Place the chassis/power pak

unit into the cabinet ensuring

that chassis/power pak seats

correctly onto the front and back
edges of the cabinet.
You can remove the spring from the shut off switch and keep both bottles full and the unit will not know there care as long as one of the switches is made to keep the fan running. I have also had bad control pods for the fan control, these also get dirty and over time decrease their efficiancy. Sometimes it hepls to just turn the controls all the way up and down several times to help re establish good contact on these controlers.

Ultrasonic humidifier's fan isn't running, the light indicated red instead of blue, and there is no mist coming out. How to fix it please since we cannot afford for another one right now.

I had the same problem. Looked up the manual online. Red light indicates water level is low I had just refilled the tank so that was not the problem but manual said to make sure water tank was firmly, securely seated on base. I unplugged the unit, unscrewed the plug on the tank and screwed it back on and then made sure the tank was securely seated on the base, plugged it in and it started working. If the tank is full you may just have to make sure the tank is fitting properly in the base.

WATER LEVEL FLOAT DEVICE PREVENTS UNIT FROM TURNING ON,EVEN THOUGH WATER TANK IS FULL. REMOVED SOME FILTER MATERIAL WITH NO EFFECT. FLOAT IS FREE WITH NO RESTRICTION.

These hints are from the air o swiss webpage.
Q: No mist / unit is not working / empty indicator keeps flashing
A: Fill up the water tank. Check if water is flowing through the demineralization cartridge (attached to the water tank cap). If the water tank is full but there is only little water in the base it indicates that the water is now flowing through the demineralization cartridge.

  • Wait for 15 minutes to allow the mist to come out of the unit.
  • If the unit is not working and the empty light is not flashing you might have set the desired humidity too low and the current humidity level in the room is higher. That is why the unit switches off automatically.
  • If the empty indicator continues flashing and the tank is full, water is not flowing through the cartridge. Exchange the cartridge or the granules in the cartridge after 2-3 months, in areas with hard water exchange the cartridge after 1 -2 months. However, the demineralization cartridge and or the granules must be exchanged at the latest after 6 months or the unit does not reach its full performance.
If the granules are new, see the following instructions:

  • Make sure the cartridge and/or granules were soaked for 24 hours, water takes longer to filter through dry granules in cartridge and into the base. Next, remove 2 tablespoons of granules from the cartridge, and throw them away. Too many granules in the cartridge it does not allow water to flow from the tank to the base.
If your issue is with the float and not the mister, then you have to make sure the float is tripping the micro switch that turns the machine on. Some units the filter will not allow the float to hit the switch if the filter is not installed correctly. If everything is in correctly and the float is tripping the switch, then the micro switch must be faulty.

Kenmore Humidifier 14114 - the fan suddenly stopped running. Changed fliter and water, unplugged the unit, changed dial to highest humidity level - the unit will not run.

Hi

Please turn off the power to the unit and unplug it. Now check the fuse inside the unit, make sure its fine and not burnt If fuse seems OK then inspect the connections to the fan and make sure the wires are not cut. Also, inspect the control for any burnt components, use a multimeter to confirm. Hope this helps... Please post back with complete model# if you need more information.

My Holmes HM3500 Humidifier is plugged in and full of water. Just replaced filter. Filter has soaked water all the way up to the top of filter. Both lights are lit, but fan is not turning on. I have tried...

Hi there,

The tank may be full. Your dehumidifier has a safety device that turns off the dehumidifier when the water tank is full. Usually the tank itself either presses against a switch or there's a device connected to the tank that triggers a switch when the tank is in place and full.
If you've emptied the tank and the unit doesn't run, inspect the place where the tank rests to see if there's a switch or mechanism that's not being activated. You may be able to turn it on with a simple flick of your finger.

The power light on my Bemis 4D-7800 humidifier flashes.

On my water wheel several parameters must be met. 1. Power on, cord plugged in. 2. Water in tank, the float arm needs to move to indicate water present, the red light on the dash indicates no water. 3. Humidity controll set higher than the room atmosphere humidity, clockwise is higher on mine. 4. The fan speed selecter must be on either high or low, the fan won't run unless one position is selected. I hope this helps

Honeywell 6013i new machine will light up...

Unplug the machine and take both the water jugs off. Take the motor unit off and flip it over. Plug it into an outlet and press down the small silver contact at the bottom of the motor. When you press this down, a connection is made and the motor should turn on (Don't worry about being electrocuted, this is perfectly safe). If the motor turns on and runs at various fan speeds, you know it's not an issue with the main unit.

When looking at the base, on the left side you'll notice a plastic piece sticking up that's held down with a plastic shroud and 2 screws. This is you water level sensor. When the water level raises up, this also rises and hits the silver contact on the bottom of the motor. Make sure this isn't binding up(I suggest you clean it) I had the same issue with my HMC-6012i, lights were on at the indicated humidity level but the motor would never run. Take the unit apart, clean it out and follow my instructions. It should fire up (Mine is running right now :) )

Sunbeam Ultrasonic Humidifier, model: 697-6

Located My Manual:
Hope this helps!

1. Remove tank from base. Turn upside down and unscrew filling cap. Fill tank with clean, cool, distilled, or tap water. Water temp should NEVER be too hot or too cold. Return tank to base and let sit for a few minutes. Be sure the filling cap of the tank is tightened firmly.

2. Plug power cord into a 110-120V AC wall outlet only. Turn power switch to "on" position. Power light will illuminate. Turn mist nozzle until desired level is being released. Aim nozzle away from furniture and walls.

3. Always turn humidifier off when water runs* out. Unit will continue to operate when tank is empty.
*Humidifier will run up to 12 hrs on low; 6 hrs on high.

DO NOT LET WATER SIT IN TANK FOR LONG. THIS CAN ENCOURAGE BACTERIAL GROWTH.
Place unit on level surface away from direct sunlight.
DO NOT ADD MEDICATION OF ANY TYPE INTO THE NOZZLE, BASE, OR WATER TANK.
ALWAYS LEAVE ROOM DOOR PARTLY OPEN. DO NOT MOVE, TILT, OR EMPTY WHILE OPERATING.

Mild bleach and water solution for cleaning, never detergent.
Clean every 3rd day during use. Clean after long storage
Humidity varies from room to room. Aim for 30 - 50% relative humidity. If windows/ walls fog or frost, reduce mist intensity. If room too humid, ventilate by opening door or window; adjust mist intensity.

Fan is running but humidity is not changing

Q: My unit has been running for several hours. I hear the fan spinning, but I do not notice the water level in the tank decreasing.
A:
First, check the filter to ensure it is wet. If the pad appears dry, remove it from the Base and gently rinse under cool water. Reposition wet filter in the Base. You may also want to note the current moisture level in your home. If the humidity level is over 60% the unit will not put out much moisture
as your air is already saturated.

UV bulb and filter are user replacement items

4b54ac1.jpg Comment by Soulvisitor, posted on Jan 20, 2008 If water level in tank is dropping and fan runs then I'd say it is working.

OK?
Comment by Soulvisitor, posted on Jan 20, 2008 Q: I hear the fan turning, but I don’t see any mist. Is my humidifier operating properly?
A:
Dry air is pulled through the system and a fan disperses invisible, moisture balanced air. There is no
“mist” emitted. When operating normally you will feel only cool air coming from the unit. Monitor the
water level in your Tank/ Base. If you notice a decrease in the Water Tank over 24 hours then the unit
is operating normally.
