Dryer timer runs fast, each minute only takes around 15 seconds

Hi. The timer (when drying) on this 8yo Washer Dryer runs fast. I have tried different settings both synthetic and cotton, auto and manual timer - but even if I put it on the maximum time (2hrs10mins) the clock runs fast. I sat there and watched for a few minutes and noticed the clock/timer runs down faster, with each minute only taking around 15 to 17 seconds. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm not sure if it's a 'user error', we've only just moved into a newly rented property, so unsure if I'm doing something wrong or if it's a fault or even if it's ever worked before. I can't find anything online so far, or in the manual. Thank you,

SOURCE: Timer Jumps

Hi. The time displayed at the start of the program is an estimated time to complete the cycle. The appliance will calculate the wash time base on load size, water pressure, water temp ect. If a smaller load is to be washed then less water will be required thus shortening the time required to fill and heat water as a result this will reduce the wash time. EG. The more water you put in your kettle the longer it takes to boil.

My Electrolux EDV 605clothes dryer is turning but not heating, heating element is ok possible faulty thermistor, dryer heats up when thermistor is unplugged but has an error code of 5 beeps

I think you're absolutely right exhaust sensor is faulty.

The buzzer will give 5 beeps, all program LEDs will flash for 5 seconds and the dryer will continue with the cycle. The warning beeps and flashing LEDs will occur every 30 seconds.
On Timer Drying programs it will run for the time remaining and in Sensor Drying programs it will run for 90 minutes. As the exhaust air temperature can not be sensed the element will be cycled on and off at a preset amount. The cycling time of the element will vary depending on the amount of time remaining.

NOTE: When this fault exists the dryer can still be used but regardless of the Sensor Drying program selected the dryer will use the 90 minute Timer Drying program, Timer Drying programs will use the selected program, and with both types of programs the element will cycle as above. The buzzer will also still be sounding.

If an exhaust sensor fault is detected the buzzer will beep and the Reminder Clean the Filter LED will flash. The LED flashes at different rates depending what is wrong with the sensor -

Fast (4 per second) = open circuit senor, broken wiring or multi pin plug not correctly fitted to the control board.
Slow (2 per second) = Short circuit in sensor or wiring.

The sensor resistance at different temperatures is as shown below.

Temperature (Celsius) Resistence (Ohms)
55 2960
50 3570
45 4330
40 5280
35 6490
30 8030
25 10000
20 12555
15 15880
10 20260
5 26080
0 33870

As you can see this is NTC thermistor with Negative Temperature Coefficient , means if temperature increasing the resistance decreasing.

Dryer keeps running and timer continues to move around dial.

A common problem, had it happen to me.

Replace the timer control. takes about 15 minutes and the skill to remove screws, disconnect plug from old timer, remove timer, install new timer, connect plug, replace screws and panel, run dryer.

Reply the model number, and I'll get you the timer P/N.

Kenmore dryer only heats on delicate

I am not familiar with this particular dryer but most of the Kenmore family use different thermostats for different temperature. They are usually located in the rear and are clustered on the blower housing. Take the two wires off one thermostat at a time and test. It should be closed when cold if not replace it (Usually around $15 each) You probably have a very dangerous clogged exhaust. This will cause thermostats to fail. and can cause a fire. CLEAN It out and dont use flexible plastic duct pipe. The other cause of thermostat failure is if the washer doesn't spin properly and the clothes are too wet when dried. A properly operating dryer will not take much longer than 45 minutes max to dry a load.
