My computer i have a compaq desk top with windows xp i was told that the operating system is no good anymore can it be fixed with a new op sys, disk ????

Yes upgrading your OS can be helpful, however, you can speed up your system using some reliable tuneup utility such as Reginout Cleaner. Thanks

Yes you can fix this by upgrading or replacing your current operating system, you can also repair this by using your winxp cd but when you think your pc have slowed down its better if you will reformat this to speed up your access to windows. there are some softwares in the market that repairs, remove your registry which speed up your system.

A freind gave me a compaq evo d300v desk top windows xp professional. How do I do factory recovery? I was told f11 but so far I was able to f8 and open windows advance options menue.

Best advice here is to get the windows 7 operating system as windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and updates are no longer forthcoming
a factory recover may require a re-entry of the registration code so you will need to get that from your friend..

in bios setup usually under security you can remove user passwords.
you get into safemode for 2000 and in control panel and remove it form users administrator account

Bios setting problem

This happens because Windows is corrupted.

You need to start the computer with a windows install disk, or a factory recovery disk inside to reinstall the system.

New operating system wanted

after formating hdd u can install any op sys on ur computer, please put ur op sys cd in drive
after starting computer and boot it with this cd when u start ur computer u will get a massage "press any key to boot from cd"
and install xp from cd also format ur hdd with xp op sys
it will solve ur problum
