Hi I am trying to copy a video to dvd on this recorder What dvd disc do i use as after recording says this disc cannot play- would appreciate the exact direction how to do this Tks

The DVD-burner inside the DVDR520H is a very cheap LiteOn-burner (model: DDW451S). It would be better to replace the burner, but it would be difficult to find a product which will fit in the limited space. I'm having troubles with burning DVD's since I had bought this peace of ****. The machine have been repaired three times, but it is still not functioning properly. Shame on Philips for assembling such a weak product and their very bad support!

Audio is out

Hi, try this:
Reset the whole machine by doing the following (this will not erase your HDD by the way):
1. Turn off at wall for 5 minutes
2. Turn back on at wall WHILE holding the standby/on button on the front until the front panel display goes black.  The recorder should then be left for a few minutes and then turn it on on remote, when the machine should prompt for language, time and date and work normally again!

Invlaid region code

Sounds like you are trying to play a DVD of a different region to that of the player.

Worldwide region codes, sumarised:

1 - US / Canada

2 - Europe

3 - Asia

4 - Australia

5 - Africa

6 - China

You can change the region code of the DVDR520H to any region or use region 0, which makes the unit multi-region to play DVDs from any region.

  1. Go into the main menu
  2. Highlight the exit button
  3. Type 2960

This should give you access to a hidden menu form where you can change the region code.
