Brother MFC-465CN won't prink cyan

My Brother MFC-465CN is not printing any cyan ink. I have replaced the cartridge, and run the cleaning routine on the printer about 10-15 times, to no avail. When I print a printer quality test page, all the colours are fine except cyan, of which there is no ink. Please help!

They are compatibles, but they've always been fine in the past, and since I've changed the cartridge for a brand new one, I don't think that's the problem.

Okay - I had same problem with yellow ink. Try these steps:
- Unplug
- Plug back in while holding MENU button (all 4 function lights will light up when printer is in maintenance mode)
- Touch 7, 6, 3 then start (to initiate POWER PURGE cleaning mode - it uses 3 times the ink as normal cleaning)
- When done, press 0 then 9 to print test page
- If improved, do 763Start trick and test again
- To exit maintenance mode, press 9, 9 to restart
If purges don't help, you may need a new printhead

I am doing this right now and I just got the yellow ink to start printing again; just need to keep doing it to see if the black will start printing again.

I also got 2 cotton swabs, taped them together to make them long enough to get to the ink contact points and used rubbing alcohol on each Qtip to clean around the areas before doing the above steps. Found this info on another site, and it mentioned to pay attention to the copper contacts too (clean gently). If really inky, you can use a cotton ball for the areas near the front to get excess off also.

UPDATE: have run the purge clean function twice and black is beginning to show up, so will keep doing it! Progress!!!

Good luck

You got to re-check back the Ink Cartridge you've buy recently.. Sometime the ink already freeze inside the cartridge bcoz its been really-really-really long time they keep before the usage.. Ive also have experience about problem like this b4, so better re-check/change back the cartridge.. Or If the
printer head is not at the cartridge, it is seperate from the cartridge, you have to check back the printer head also.. normally all the new printer head comes together with the cartridge.. and prefer to use the Original Cartridge more than Pirated Cartridge ok.. Cheap Cartridge always giv a lot of problem, especially like Your problem.. Thats All, Good Luck and Happy Trying..

Replaced black ink cartridge, ink wont come out

If any of the ink cartridges need to be replaced the printer will not work. Also, if you are printing only black you will need to go into print properties and select black.

I have not been using the Brother MFC 465CN printer for a while. Bought and installed new cartridges, cleaned the print head several times (from the printer menu option). But, nothing is getting printed....

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

I just installed new ink in my Brother MFC-465CN and the black will not print.

You could clean the black ink cartridge. For this you need to remove the black ink cartridge which is present in the printer. In order to clean the laser or scanner block you could use a cotton swab as it would fully clean the dirt. You need to clean the grime and the dried ink present in the printer. This would remove all the hindrances which prevent the ink from flowing. Cleaning the printer heads would also help to solve the problem.

Brother Mfc-845cw and Mfc-465cn both stopped printing Black about the same time. Using Non brother Ink. Tried cleaning, replacing carts, unpluging maching. how can I fix this.

the black ink that was used in the refilled cartridges was probably to thick for the nozzels on the head, you can try buying the original cartridges and then cleaning again, or check with the store you got these cartridges from as some of them offer a warranty

Black will not prtint. All the colors print fine on my Brother MFC 465CN. Have already: 1. Changed black ink cartridge 2. Reloaded printer driver Almost seems like some deeper issues where it...

GENERAL PRINTER TROUBLESHOOTING ADVISE:
Open the printer and remove the ink. Clean around the ink carriage and the under the ink with alcohol and a cotton swab. Pay special attention to areas with copper contacts. If the printer has a cleaning option either on the printer itself through the menu system or on the computer through the print driver, you can use that afterwards. Some printers will let you re-run the cleaning utility several times. Keep in mind too that some printers will not print, even with full ink, if the exact type of ink it expects you to have is not installed. Double check that the ink is correct against the manual or written instructions inside the printer. Not every cartridge that fits the printer necessarily works.

Does not print properly-even after installing brand new cartridge

most likely your ink nozzles have clogged up.
try several cleanings, if it still does not work, you probably have to get the printhead replaced.

Black cartridge doesn't print

you need to do a hard reset on the printer as well it might clear up the problem and recognize the ink at its proper levels.

refer to your user manual or let us know and we will find the procedure to do so.

Ink cartridges....

Which cart arent recognized? The yellow one or the cyan(blue) one or both?

Anyway:
Unplug machine from power. Wait three minutes. In this time take all carts out and close cover. reconnect machine to power. Machine demands carts. Open cover. Reinsert carts. Make sure that the support clip of the cart.holder is secured above the cart cover.

If you still have probs with one cart. the led contact on the circuit board is defectiv. You need a new cart holder then, which can be ordered as a spare part from a service partner near your home (see brother homepage).
