Trying to install Winfax Pro 10.0 on Windows XP. I get to the screen requesting my CSID and after entering a name, the install stopped and exited. I set the advanced text services off, but still experience the same problem. What next?

SOURCE: can't complete winfax pro installation.. :(

You probably have a conflict with your INTERNET EXPLORER 7 or 8.

I suggest downloading WinFax Tools

I just reinstalled winfax pro 10, it is not in the all programs, but it is in the computer. I am running Windows XP Home edition 5.1.2600 SP3. what do i do?

Go to the program files folder where WinFax is installed, either in Symantec\WinFax or WinFax. Find the file WTNSETUP.EXE.
Run this and go through the setup. It should create the necessary shortcuts and program menu items for you once completed. http://www.getfaxing.com/winfax

WinFax Pro 10.0 tries to re-install itself every time I start.

remove the Configuration Wizard from your Startup folder.

WinFax Tools has many fixes for WinFax that are automated.

Symantec WinFax Pro - configuration problem

I think I've found a "partial" solution but, as my telephone line has gone dead, I have been unable to test it.

Type in your CSID then, without doing anything else (such as pressing ENTER or trying to type in your fax number), click on NEXT

This should take you to the rest of the CONFIGURE - modem etc.

Your header won't show your fax or telephone number, but you may be able to enter this later.

Windows Updates will not download...

Version 10.04 will not fix the problem with Windows Updates, and 10.04 will only update from a 10.03 version. Its not recommended unless you're using Fax Sharing and Windows XP.

Its possible you've overwrote some important system files in the process of copying files, but WinFax itself would not cause the problem.

How to create "Message Stores" in Winfax Pro 10

To create the message store folder: 1. Close WinFax and the WinFax Controller. 2. If you are running Windows NT, 2000, or XP, stop the WinFax service. If you don't know how to do this, read the document How to start or stop a service in Windows. 3. Using Windows Explorer, locate and then double-click the Symantec WinFax Pro folder. 4. Click File. 5. Point to New, and then click Folder. 6. Give the new folder a name (My Faxes, for example) and press Enter. 7. Close Windows Explorer.
