HP print spooler problem and error 1068. Want my printer back!!!

My computer closed down and I took it to the computer guys. On getting it back my HP printer would not work I went into my computer and there is no icon for a printer. I cannot add a printer because it says print spooler not working. .I went back to ther "guys" and told them what was going on. they said that it should not have happened and downloaded a thingy that would allow me to use the printer. It downloads but will not work. I have gone into your site and found i can download from HP and have started to do this. I have also recieved an error 1068 while i was looking at ways to correct my computer. Regcure did nothing to help. why does the printer spooler stop working and how can I fix this rotten problem, last exam to do and print out - so frustrating!!! Also computer freezes at times as well. I have a new HP Printer C4250 & I tried to install & run it on my Sony VAIO GRV 550 Laptop computer running Windows XP. I got the message from the HP Photosmart All-in-one series Printer installer saying the Installation cannot continue - The Spooler Service is stopped and must be running for the installation to continue. Click fix to have the Installer start the service (however that does not work). Then it says Service: Spooler Manufacturer: Microsoft Description: Loads files to memory for later printing Version: 0.0.0.0
Another message says Cannot install this hardware: HPPhotosmart C4200 series An error occurred during the installation of the device The RPC server is unavailable Click Finish to close the Found New Hardware Wizard.
I have no idea what the RPC server is or why the Print Spooler seems to be corrupt. I've been told I need to delete my print spooler and re-install it. Does this sound right? Why are so many people having problems with their print spoolers, even without the dreaded Vista? Was it a virus that made them stop working? You can email me at [email protected].

I am having the same problems, but with a hp laserjet 1022 printer. The problem started on Friday and kept on saying that the printer spooler is not working. I tried restarting the printer spool and was able to print one document and then the spooler stopped again. Please help. scooler problem

Just go to your Server or Desktop PC and enable the RPC service (Remote Procedure Call)
Right click in "My computer" icon, from the manu select "Manage" then go to "Services and Applications" and expand that, after that select "Services" you will find that services in the right pane, just click in "Start"

SOURCE: HP print spooler problem and error 1068. Want my printer back!!!

I'm on windows XP OS
I am having a similar problem and have been online all night needing a solution FAST.
I used to have a lexmark printer/drivers, which I hear cause the 1068 error.
I removed all those drivers.

In the "Services" window, I goto "Print Spooler"
If I attempt to start the service I get "Error 1068: The depedancy service or group failed to start"

Under "Print Spooler" properties / Dependancies Tab - upon clicking I get an error:

Service Dependancies
<Null>: No Such Interface Supported

From what I can see, I need a default RPC dependancy to be in there? I've set all the configurations to "Automatic" and recoverys to "Restart the Service"

I get nothing.
I also need to mention, I occasionally get an error upon starting windows XP, which says something along the lines of system32/services.exe error; restarting System in 1:00 (then it counts down and shuts off PC)

I really need this printer working tonight.
Thanks in advance.

Mike

Unplug HP 1022n printer.

In command line >> net stop "print spooler"
In command line >> net start "print spooler"

(Reason for command line: Service normally times out while stopping in services list)

Open regedit and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows NT --> CurrentVersion --> PrinterPorts
Deleted HP 1022n printer there
Open regedit and went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE--> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows NT --> CurrentVersion --> PrinterPorts
Deleted HP 1022n printer there

Went back to Printers and Faxes page. File --> Server Properties --> Drivers tab
Deleted HP 1022n print driver

Go to HP.com and downloaded the driver from website

Plugged printer back into docking station

In Printers and Faxes --> Add Printer --> Local Printer Attached to this computer --> Unchecked Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer
Name queue whatever you would like, share printer if you want. Loaded driver that you downloaded from HP. Finish install.

HP print spooler problem and error 1068. Want my printer back!!!

Microsoft Operating System protocol is to install first and then always have drivers and applications install on top of them. More often than not the drivers are outdated and rendered unusable by many of the operating system updates and then need to be updated themselves by the relevant vendor or have to be uninstalled and then reinstalled. Of recent times this has become more and more of an issue due to complexities in the registry and in the COM fabric of the operating system. The registry often gets clogged up with superfluous entries and needs cleaning out to improve performance just like the HD inside the PC needs defragmenting occasionally. Unfortunately when many of the updates from Microsoft and many other software vendors are applied they leave their old entries in the registry and just write new ones - simply because it is convenient and easier for them to do so.

Uninstall the application and drivers using the HP remove utility. It is not sufficient to use the Operating System uninstall as it does not work that well. The Registry, Application, Folders and drivers need to be totally removed.

A registry clean is recommended. You can do this by downloading a free 30 day use of Ashampoo from www.ashampoo.com and clean up your system of all the unnecessary entries. I have been using it for a few years now with grate success and no problems. You can always restore any deleted entries before binning them forever.

Once completed then reboot the PC then reinstall the HP drivers and application. Make sure these are the latest ones available from HP support for your operating system at

hi! Print Spooler is actually a service for your Operating system-
Try this

Click on start and click on run
in the open box type in services.msc and your services local window should open, scroll down and look for print spooler, highlight it and do a right click and on the dropdown menu left click on stop and it will go to a process of stopping the service and then right click back and click on start. if you get an error message about print spooling or spooler, then that means you have a problem with the operating system. call or go to microsoft help and support online in that case. and RPC server unavailable error has something to do with a network printer. but i believe you setup the printer locally.

There are several ways to resolve printer spooler error, probably because there are many variations of this error. The error caused by faulty software can be resolved by deleting all the information found in the directory. Thereafter, navigate to the Control Panel, click on Administrative Tools and then services icon. Find the service labeled Print Spooler, highlight it and restart the process. If that doesn’t work, the program might be corrupted. Click on start, then Run. Search for the document labeled services.msc, and this will trigger the opening of another window. On this window, scroll down and click “Print Spooler”. Check its setting and turn on automatic mode. Click Okay, and restart the machine. If you’re lucky, this might be all you have to do. Still doesn’t work? Navigate to the Add/Remove Programs screen of the Control Panel. Find the all the software responsible for making the printer run including the drivers, and uninstall them. Be sure to be thorough about it, or the problem may not be solved. Download the latest copy of your printer’s software from the manufacturer and reinstall it. get more information for printer spooler error .Hope this helps you.
