Try the hazard lights to check if all four lights flash, if not then check the bulbs. If the bulbs are ok check the contacts and the connections. if all all these are ok the problem could be the indicator switch. The flasher unit is fitted in the circuit before the indicator switch, that is why it operated although the lights might not.
A flashing check engine light indicates a problem w/ emissions, this is why your car is not running correctly. Bring it to have trouble codes read--scanner is plugged into a port under the dash, codes stored in cars computer are read by scanner, results will indicate what is wrong w/ your van. Auto parts stores offer this service free, as well as advising u what to do. Have it checked out asap, continuing to drive it may result in more costly repairs. Let me know how u do.
Just curious... did you unplug the unit for a period of time, or did you only power it off? I would definitely unplug it for about ten minutes, then plug it back in.
Please try the following to resolve your issue:
1. Unplug the USB cable and the AC adapter from the back of the scanner. 2. Toggle the Transportation lock (located on the bottom of the scanner) back and forth 5 times, ensuring that the lock is all the way in the unlock position. 3. Reconnect the USB cable and the AC adapter cable, and then try to scan.
It could be anything, when there's a hardware malfunction, the scanner just will not allow any action. As it is also an old scanner, any documentation of LED error codes will be long gone, too.
It's a shame when well built peripherals die.
Try this as a last ditch effort.
Remove the software.
Reboot the computer and come off line.
Disable the Anti Virus program.
Now install the soft ware.
Then try.
If the red light still flashes then assume it is new scanner time.
