F-9 code in display

My Microwave gives me a F-9 code and stops working !?

F9 usually indicates a problem with the door switches or a broken door switch mount.

Model 72180883400 Microwave Oven F-9 Failure Code

If the unit is less then 5 years old i believe it is still covered it may be the inverter board or a grounded Magnetron tube. If you need any further assistance let me know. I would contact kenmore directly.

My Kenmore Elite over the range microwave model 85293 will only run for a few seconds and then it atuomatically stops and says F-9 on the display pad. It does not heat anything. What does F-9 mean?

Just had this happen - the repair guy says it is the inverter. And they have stopped making the part so it cannot be fixed!!! When did you buy your unit?

F-9 pops up - microwave stops after 5 seconds. This is a Kenmore Elite Microwave, made in 2003. Model 721 63683300

The F-9 error code indicates a defective control board, inverter or line voltage too high .

WARNING : A microwave is capable to give you a serious electrical shock even when it's unplugged , so I recommend you to call a repair technician for help .

The F-9 code indicates a problem with either the magnetron or inverter.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Hi,
F-9 error code indicates a defective control board, inverter or line voltage too high. f the microwave runs for about 7 seconds with a ticking sound..then stops and shows "F-9", it is the magnetron that has failed. The fact that the unit starts and runs with the TICKING SOUND means the control board is sending signal to inverter board and the inverter board is sending signal to magnetron. Magnetron is covered by full 5 year warranty, inverter board is only 3 years.

F9 code means either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount.

GH7208XR Error Code #7

Behind the right front corner faceplate is a bag with the tech support info.
I used this and went through all the troubleshooting and got to the power inverter board. This board has the 2 red wires out of it that go to the magnetron. Instead of replacing the whole inverter module , I examined all the components on it. I found that there are 2 high voltage rectifier diodes attached to the transformer and 1 of them was not testing good. The diodes are UXC2B diodes.. Just clipped out the bad one and soldered in a new one.
