Fan stays on without cooking or starting

Cooktop is cold but fan will intermittently come on when I close the door even before I select a cook time. Fiddling with the door sometimes will make it stop and operate normally.

Sounds like a door switch problem. Relays can stick too so tap them to release, they may need to be replaced

SOURCE: stops cooking

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

This can be caused by slamming the door or by habitually opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

SOURCE: Fan continues to run when I open the door.

It may be a door switch problem (see this file) or a stuck fan relay on the control circuit board, which we can repair for $39.95 in most cases.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

Kenmore Microwave model Fan running and light on when door closed.

This is normal. Kenmore microwaves will stay running with fan and light on for a short time after food is cooked. The reason is to air out the microwave after cooking. Things like pop corn, Bacon etc. have strong smells after cooking. The ventilation helps to remove odors.

Why does the fan keep running on a kenmore spacemaster 300?

Check those 3 micro switches in the door latch assembly. A bad microswitch can blow the main fuse. This usually ruins the microswitch.

Microwave not working

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
If the microwave will not work at all, make sure power is on at the outlet and test the electrical cord. Test the fuse and replace it if it is faulty. Also check the door to make sure it closes properly. Test and, if needed, replace the fan.
If the oven doesn't cook or cooks only intermittently but the display is on, check the door interlock switch, the thermal cutout , and the fan replacing parts that don't pass the test.

Mine is a similar problem - light and fan BOTH stay on when the cooking/heating finishes! The door remains closed and the food/beverage cooks. However, when it's finished the light remains on and the

There are a number of interlock switches that the oven door activates when closed, sometimes one becomes defective causing the main fuse to blow in the microwave or continue to run when time is up.

MW8119SB cooks when door is closed regardless of settings

Clear the cook cycle when you remove the food. Some microwaves pick up where they left off, so you don't have to keep pressing buttons.

When we close the door the motor keeps running.

This just started happening on my Kenmore microwave because the door latch broke off.
