You can find the manual for the Radio Shack 4-in-1 Remote 15-2142 at ManualsLib and some other sites. A direct link to the PDF of the manual is here: http://www.rockabilly.net/files/manuals/15-2142.pdf . The ManualsLib version of the manual: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/635735/Radio-Shack-4-In-1-Remote-Control.html . The only code listed for a Magnasonic VCR is 0593. No Magnasonic DVD players are listed. If your Magnasonic DVD/VCR was built more than 6 months before the remote was programmed, then the remote has the best chance of having the correct code. The copyright date for the manual appears to be 1999.
I hope this helps. You may want to try searching through all of the codes. Many electronics manufacturers use a common supplier for the IR sensor chip and encoding.
Car is lonely when your gone and needs some tunes! No really, very weird problem. Radio must have a remote control module, and either you have lost the remote in a seat which is pushing the button down, or the internal relay for remote action has failed. Easy fix is to find the hot wire for radio and install a manual switch to turn it off. (Or, look for your friend with the remote who is messing with you.
Sounds like he did not wire a remote line from your radio to the amplifier, if he put a 12v from the battery to the amp and the remote spot on the amp then it will not turn off, you will need to either wore a toggle switch to the remote so you can turn it off manually or check the back of your radio for a remote line or splice a remote line from the accessory power supply on your radio so the amp will turn on when the radio is on
It would be helpful to have the model number for your 3-in-One remote. However, most of the codes are common for your Apex DVD player. These are codes a RadioShack Remote for an Apex DVD player. 0672, 0717, 0755, 0794, 0795, 0796, 0797, 083. Press the button for DVD on your remote. Then press and hold the Program button until it blinks. then, enter your 4-digit code, after entering, the Program button will blink. If not, repeat instructions and enter another code, until one is found that will turn off the DVD when the power button is pressed. You can also download an owners manual from RadioShack.com with the model number of your unit.
