My cannon mx420 says it is offline and won't print. Yes it is pluggled in. This happened before and I found help onlin. I can't remember how to fix it.

remove fron site then reinstall from software or access cannon web page and seek new up date, should full update online if you don't have disc.

Select the proper printer as your default ,, you may be printing to file instead of the printer,,

Hi my cannon MX 420 wouldn't scan if I tried to use the button on the printer. However if I opened the printer file from control panel, there was an option for scanning, which worked great. In the scanning options box read and choose each time you scan. Hope this helps

Check the status of the printer at Control Panel. Set it to online if it's shown as offline. If this doesn't fix the problem, check whether installing the vista driver available at your printer manufacturer's website helps.

Step 1:
a. Click Start, go to Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound.
b. Click Printer.
c. If the Printer is offline, it shows "Offline" status. If the Printer is online it shows "Ready".
d. If the Printer is offline, set it to online.
e. Right-click on the printer and select "Use Printer Online".
f. The display should change to ready when the printer is set to online.

Step 2:
If still you are facing issues, then update the printer driver. This should fix the problem.

Hi . If copies are doing fine maybe is a network or drivers issue

Try disconnecting the printer completely from power and from the PC.
Reboot the PC.
Connect everything again.
Clear any print queues.
Check for paper jams on the printer.
Now try printing.

You can find the serial number on a PIXMA MX420 All-In-One printer by opening the scanning unit cover and locating the serial number on a sticker in front of the print head.

HP Printers have common behavior of going into sleep mode if not used for a while. If this happens every-time the printer goes to sleep mode and you find printing issue, try this simple step below

Disconnect the power cable from back of printer
While holding the # and 3 button, connect the power cord to printer.

*Note this is partial reset and doing so you may loose fax logs and other fax related setting you have setup on printer.
