Flashing red lights, with error message - service required

Is your printer show any massage? such as : The parts inside part of the printer is end of the service life. If so try to follow these proces:
Jast go to:
download ssc servie utility, and run it in to your computer. Set your install printer and damonestrated printer ( select both are epson c 86) Then close the window. a printer icon will be appair on your icon tray. Right click on the icon. Then protection counter > reset protection counter. Protection counter ( again) > clear counter overflow. Then extra > soft reset.

In terms of resetting the waste ink counter, the SSC utility should work but you may need the AdjProg (Adjustment Program) instead depending on whether the printer firmware is willing to talk to SSC or not.

Do you have a message on your screen ??? Try printing a document or opening the print manager and see the error message - that looks like a maintenance error when your pads need to be serviced after a set number of prints.

Press the button to set the carriage in ink change position - while your carriage is in the ink change position UNPLUG YOUR PRINTER.

ONce printer unplugged from electrical wall socket - remove all carts, and then place them back one by one making sure you use the right color for the right slot - make sure they snap in securely, close the latch.

Now plug in your printer and wait for the initialization process and see if this works....

If you still get the blinking lights, you will need to locate the error message - your printer pad counter has reached its maximum and it needs to be serviced and reset.

There are reset software out there, but you need to change the pads or divert the tube to a tank outside your printer.

The reset counter software program that I assume you download, needs to change the date on your PC to works, the first time sound a little confuse, but if you follow the instructions it works. If still failing, try to download another copy of the reset software, may be corrupt the early software.

Blink alternately or not? If alternately, the message is not "general error". but "service required" It's true to reset waste ink counter. But, i think it's not service required. when trun on printer ready? But when start to print red lights blink at same time? Problem with chip at ink tank. Check connector at chip and at head carriage. It's may be dirty, and not good connection. try to use another chip.

If it's a paper jam, look for and remove paper in feed system. If no paper, is the print head properly parked under the right-hand end of the cover? If not, you may have stuck or detached parking mechanism. Come back to me if this is the case for further help.

If it's "internal error", it usually means the waste ink pads need changing. You can overcome this problem temporarily by using the SSC utility - download from

and reset the Protection Counter. This will stop the lights flashing and restore normal operation. However, remember that eventually ink will overflow from the waste ink area and make a dreadful mess, so you must change the waste ink pads before this happens. This requires the disassembly of the printer. A copy of the service manual is available from a number of sellers - just Google "Epson C86 Service Manual". You will often find them
for sale very cheaply on E-Bay.

hi, try downloading the ssc utility (just google it). it lets you reset the ink counters, individual ink cleaning etc. once you've opened the main screen you need to right click to get all the other bits. hope this helps
