Display droped laptop and now the screnn is showing different colors. is it the inverter or display itself? thank jim

Both OS X and Windows have inversion options for their displays. Their meanings, on the other hand, differ with the operating system. An inverted display on Windows refers to the display actually being upside down, while an inverted display on the Mac refers to the colors being inverted. Either way, these options can hinder the use of your computer, for obvious reasons. Luckily, an inverted screen can be fixed quickly, on both Windows and OS X.

Right click on the Desktop and select "Properties." Click the "Settings" tab and then select "Advanced." Click the "Driver" tab and then "Graphics Properties." Press "Display Settings" and uncheck the "Enable rotation" option. Click "Apply" and then "OK." On Mac OS X Click the Apple logo in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Scroll down and select "System Preferences." Select "Universal Access" and click on the "Seeing" tab. Check the "Black on white" option and the display should return to normal. Close System Preferences to save the changes.

I'd recommend a simple troubleshooting step that can get you some pretty important information. Whether on one you own, or a friend's, connect your laptop to an external monitor and see if the exact problem is duplicated on the external monitor. If it is, then your video chip on the motherboard is in the process of failing.

If, however, it displays fine with color like it normally would, you've diagnosed your laptop as having one of several problems:

1. The Screen Inverter is failing (small display controlling curcuit bar just behind the bottom of the laptop screen frame).
2. The LCD Cable has worked its way partially loose behind the LCD panel, at the Inverter or at its plugin spot on the motherboard
3. The LCD panel itself has failed to the degree that the catalyst liquid is not receiving the color activating charge correctly or at all.

Armed with this information, you can then make contact with either a laptop Motherboard Repair service on eBay and get the video chip replaced for around $100, or, you can contact a local laptop repair guy (like me in my area) about the other possibilities. Make sure that you negotiate that there will be NO Charge to diagnose the exact problem. Any laptop guy worth his "salt" will have several different diagnostic CDs which will tell him the problem without even having to take out one screw.

if the same issue occurs in the BIOS your soluton is to have your LCD screnn replace or have your LCD inverte cable checked/replaced ^_^ this has nothing to do with the BIOS vodeo card drivers do not function in the BIOS to be able to do such in the BIOS screen

Double tap the screen with 3 fingers and it will unzoom. Then to switch the feature off, go to settings, accessability and turn off zoom feature.

The issue is with Inverter board of the display for flickering and the pixel issue is with LCD itself.needs to be change

That would be the screen itself that needs replaced, if you needed the inverter board you screen would be dark and hardly visable

Well Jim, this could be a couple of things, a simple driver glitch, or a dead pixel area. Let's hope for the driver glitch. Start by uninstalling the video drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the screen and reinstall the video drivers. Then readjust the screen resolution in the display properties. If the problem persists, then I'm afraid you have a dead pixel area. This will be caused due to a bad screen inverter or bad screen, then the inverter or screen will have to be replaced. It's very rare, but occasionally a loose or bad connector can cause this. You might also check the screen connections for a loose connection or a little dirt/corrrosion build up.

Have you tried to replace the backlight lamp, itself? When you say you tried a different LCD, do you mean the barebones LCD panel? Yes, an external monitor should work fine.
