How much memory do you have installed in your
computer? It may need to be, increased, as this is likely to be the cause
of your computer freezing, rebooting, times out, or shutting down.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

Go to the store and purchase a good copy of Windows XP and install it from a disk. In the BIOS you should have the option of booting from external devices as a alternative as well. This would mean USB or any plug and play drive. Make sure it is set to boot to this fist boot. Really I would just go and get a copy of Windows XP it should be relatively cheap now since there is no real support or at least it is dying out or has died for support updates. If you can purchase the original boot and software for your computer from the factory as well.
I would also strongly suggest you take it in to the pro and have them do it less hassle for you if you have not done this a lot.
The hard drive is located on the bottom and is usually 3-4 screws to open the panel. Its not just plug and go though, you have to format the hardrive then load the OS, its not a very simlple job but is possible.
laptop adapters are very specific and need to be exactly the same as the manufactures so if the one you switched to is not the same voltage and amp and poliarity you gain the chance of causing permanent damage to your lappy.
If tried so many ways ti fix it but still it wont work, buy a usb dongle or card that supported by windows vista.or try to reinstall the driver for this device.the moment you bought this pc does it have vista already?
Whats the device for the ports you are checking? A drive? diagnostic won't tell you if ports are damaged. Doesnt work that way, if they are damaged, extract the drive from the case and move on. Diagnostics will only tell you info on the drive.
